Finally found a passion

Ahh-- at last. Sophomore year of college. Finishing up all your "Gen Eds" and officially starting with your major. Sophomore year is exceptionally special time. You are finally considered part of your major by officially applying, and you have to start thinking about what field of your major you want to be in.

For example, I am a Communications and Digital Media (CDM) major, with a concentration in broadcasting and production, with a minor in history. Being a communications major means lot and lots of options, and fields to go into. Saying that, the concentration I chose was broadcasting and production. Basically meaning TV and/or radio. One thing I have always had a passion for is editing and cameras. I never liked being in front of the camera, seeing as i'm extremely shy. Being behind the scenes is the place for me.

This year I started my audio production class, and I can honestly say it's put me on the path to my calling. Radio. This year I found out how much I truly love music and radio talk shows. I found out I loved to be a DJ, and I love to mix sounds together. I'm also in the process of successfully becoming a talk show host or co-host with a few of my friends.

I am truly blessed. The school I attend for my major has opened a brand new state-of-the-art building for communications majors with a real radio station and an advanced broadcasting studio. A couple of my friends and I after a lot of consideration have decided to be a part of our radio station and have our own show. We don't exactly have a name, but we don't exactly need one either. I gave myself the name Aweyooo on the Radiyooo. I think it's cute and I love it, it has a special meaning behind it and that's all that matters. We are currently just playing music, but every week we are speaking more and more each time. My goal is to have a full out radio show by the end of my senior year at my university.

I just really love radio.

It is truly my passion, and I couldn't be happier.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
