First I would like to leave a slight disclaimer that I am no way, in any shape or form, trying to offend anyone. This is just my opinion that I feel I should let people know.

When I was growing up, I was taught you should treat everyone the same no matter their skin color. I assumed everyone else thought that way also until my freshman year of high school. People started saying hateful things to me and I couldn't understand why, until I realized people are being hateful because of my heritage and color.

For those of you that do not know, I am half Caucasian and half Egyptian. Now why is it I am scared to admit I am half Egyptian? What makes it different then being white? Because people are scared of my race. No one is scared of white people, but if there's an Egyptian, people automatically think they are a terrorist or a bad person.

People have called me terrible things, such as a terrorist, murderer, towel head and even a baby killer.

Now why is it I get called all these things when I was born and raised in the United States? Why do I get called these things when I've never hurt anyone and absolutely never will?

Even if I was born and raised in Egypt and spoke Arabic, how does that make me a bad person? It has gotten to the point where I just say I am white and leave the other half of me out. I shouldn't have to be ashamed and scared of who I am. I can't help my race, just like you can't.

This controversy for "Black Lives Matter" I agree with, but what about us? What about all the other races other than black and white? Everyone has seemed to forgotten about all of the other races in the world. That is why I am a huge supporter of "All Lives Matter," because Blacks are not the only ones going through injustice and bullying. Hate happens to every single race.

Our heritage is something we should all be proud of, no matter where we came from or what color our skin is. America is letting ignorance take that away from us. America is in a huge war and the enemy is ourselves. We need to get our own country in order before we go judging other countries when they are better off then we are!

It is ridiculous that race has to be a problem in a country that is supposed to be the land of the free.

I am proud to be an American, but I am ashamed of America. Our soldiers fight everyday, many losing their lives, for this? For us to be attacked with racist slurs and judgement? It truly disgusts me how selfish most of america is being.

The fact is that America is not the land of the free anymore and the only people that can change that is us.

We need to stop judging people by their skin color.

Stop accusing people of terrible things because of their heritage.

Stop being selfish and represent our soldiers that fought for us to be free of judgement.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
