RACIAL REMARKS AGAINST MINORITIES HAS BECOME A TREND SINCE TRUMP WAS ELECTED PRESIDENT

Racial remarks against minorities has been surfacing the web all week long since Trump was elected president.

Messages stated in a racist GroupMe account targeting several African American college students was brought to the attention of the University of Pennsylvania administrators this past Friday.

One student had broke down in tears, reflecting on some of the disturbing contents that he had seen, which was also shared on social media.

“I stared an administrator in the eye and literally lost it. And quite honestly I just can’t stop crying. I feel sick to my stomach. I don’t feel safe,” said University of Pennsylvania student Calvary Rogers on Facebook. He said the group, to which all black freshmen were added, was named “N-gger Lynching", according to http://time.com/.

Aside from the racial slurs that was anonymously posted, a calendar invitation was also displayed for a “daily lynching” as well as old photos of African-American lynchings. There was also comments made about what newly elected President Donald Trump had stated in a video about grabbing women by the genitals without permission via the same source.

“We are absolutely appalled that earlier today Black freshman students at Penn were added to a racist GroupMe account that appears to be based in Oklahoma,” the university said in a joint statement released by President Amy Gutmann, Provost Vincent Price and Executive Vice President Craig Carnaroli." -TIME

“The account itself is totally repugnant: it contains violent, racist and thoroughly disgusting images and messages. This is simply deplorable.”

"This is absolutely vile material and completely offensive to everyone on our campus,” the statement said. “We are both angry and saddened that it was directed to our students or to anyone. The people responsible for this are reprehensible.”

The campus police was notified about this incident and are currently trying to find out the suspect (s) responsible for this account. They have also increased their security watch around campus.

This is only the beginning guys, can we deal with this type of drama for the next 4 years? We can not condone this type of behavior, it's not the 1960's! It's 2016! Martin Luther King Jr. had fought way too hard to gain the rights and freedom of African Americans! We can not go back to the way it used to be!! Trump has influenced people to think that sexual assault and discriminating against people of color is okay, when it's not! We need to do better and have people understand that this type of behavior is unacceptable under the Constitution. Writing about it on social media isn't enough, jail time should be given! Regardless of how you feel about someone, it is not right to discriminate against an entire race. Us, minorities have benefited this country more than we get credited for! Stop the violence, stop the madness! Let us all be at peace. I refuse to call Trump as my president for the next 4 years! He is not a good representation of what a true leader should be like! Who else agrees?

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
