Thanksgiving break is the perfect time to binge watch Netflix. If you haven’t already seen it already, the show you need to be binge-watching this season is “Friends”. With ten seasons all available on Netflix, there is no excuse for not having seen this iconic show. If you have already watched every episode (like me), then you will definitely recognize this iconic recipe. In episode nine of the sixth season, Rachel attempts to make a traditional English dish for the gang's Thanksgiving meal. Rachel follows the recipe step by step but fails to realize when two pages are stuck together, thus creating her famous Thanksgiving trifle. If you haven’t seen the trifle episode yet, watch this clip from the season six thanksgiving episode.

Gather your materials and let’s get cooking!

Prep Time: 9.5 minutes

Cook Time: 25 minutes

Total Time: 34.5 minutes

Servings: 6-8 (if anyone actually eats it)

Ingredients

  • 1 package of ladyfingers
  • 1 jar raspberry jam
  • 2 cup custard
  • 1 package raspberries
  • 10 oz ground beef
  • 3/4 cup peas
  • 1/2 yellow onion
  • 1 ripe banana
  • Whipped cream
  • Step 1.

Once you have gathered all of the ingredients begin by sautéing the ground beef with peas and onions.

    Step 2.

Line the bottom of a clear bowl with a layer of ladyfingers.

    Step 3.

Add the raspberry jam atop the ladyfingers, making sure they are completely coated. Next, cover the layer of jam with half of the custard. Place the raspberries on top of the custard layer.

    Step 4.

Add another layer of ladyfingers. Add a layer of raspberry sauce above this layer of ladyfingers.

    Step 5.

Scoop on the layer of the ground beef, peas and onion mixture

Side note: If you plan on serving this dish to people substitute this mixture with other berries and fruit.

    Step 6.

Add the remanding custard and top it off with sliced bananas.

    Step 7.

Cover the trifle with whipped cream and the remanding raspberries as a garnish.

Have fun making this "traditional" meat trifle and I wish you the best of luck if you attempt to eat this meal! Happy cooking!

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

    Thank You on wooden blocks

    1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

    2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
