Hayley Williams, for those who live under a rock, is the lead singer of the alternative “genre-neutral” band, Paramore. Aside from her singing career, she is a full-time role model to people all over the world because of her wisdom as someone who virtually grew up in the industry and was in one of the very few female-fronted bands in the alternative/rock scene back in 2005. Williams often shares this wisdom during shows, when there is a short break between songs. Here are some of the quotes that I’ve found from various Paramore shows over the years that I think everyone should hear.
“If you’ve ever doubted what music can do, just don’t.”
“I believe that music is a place every one of us can go to. I don’t care who you are, where you were born, what you’re doing with your life. Everyone can come here in music and be equal.
"I just want you to know that there is power and strength in choosing every morning to put one foot in front of the other and just keep moving.”
“Never let anybody make you feel like you don’t have a choice, like you don’t have an idea, like you don’t have an option, like you don’t have a dream. This is your voice, use it.”
“Sometimes you get run down. Sometimes life throws dirt in your eyes and stings and you can’t see for a few minutes. Even after you get it out your eyes are all red and your vision is crappy… but eventually, whether through tears or maybe just time... you start to see even clearer than before. Life is not always good. Which is why music exists. Why I believe God exists. And why there’s always a pint of coconut milk ice cream in my freezer.”
“Sometimes, maybe your plans don’t work out like what you wanted but they work out even better. So keep hoping.”
“Remember to enjoy everything. The things that feel good, the things that hurt. It’s all gonna make you better. Stronger.”
"Hey, you never know, you might surprise yourself.”
“I want to encourage you to never doubt who you are. Believe in you before you believe in anyone else and what they think of you.”
“People in life will sometimes take your kindness for weakness. But the bigger lesson is to not let that stop you from being kind.”
