"Grey’s Anatomy" saved my life in many different respects.

Sure, the drama lured me in, and the fact that I wanted to go into medicine made this a top show for me. However, the true power of the show isn’t understood until you go through circumstances that make the quotes so applicable.

1. Karev is one of my all time favorites because he shows true honesty and perseverance.

His life was pretty much one crappy moment after another especially growing up. He wasn’t given anything and thus he has mastered the art of self-reliance. While he isn’t the flashiest character, he gives the everyday person a role model to keep pushing through. For a lot of people childhood sucks. But it is only a small portion of your life. If you can survive until you don’t have to rely on anyone, then you can make your life what you want.

2. In a lot of ways we let our partners become our lives.

We are all consumed and they are the sun and the moon. What we forget is that the person we love doesn’t complete us, they accompany us. They are the person we chose to join us on our adventure. Don’t let them drive your car; they are just along for the ride.

3. Isn't it always that when we blink we are somewhere else?

You aren’t old enough to have a mortgage or a baby. There are those moments in life that shape the rest of our future. One moment we are here, and the next we are in a different place; that different place could be mentally, physically, financially, or emotionally.

4. I find it funny when someone shocks me about who they are.

I have created an idea of this entire person, yet they jump out like someone totally new, and usually they help greatly or devastate. There is never a middle.

5. We all live to never regret, but it seems to always happen.

Recently, I have discovered how quickly it will all be gone. Especially in this crazy world. It is OK to be proud of where you are. It is good to show off your accomplishments. After all, tomorrow it might be gone.

6. Apologizing is something we all have to do at some point.

Too many apologies can mean that we are weak and can’t stand up for ourselves. In reality it is so much more than that. When we come into a time in our lives and we feel like she should apologize about something big or small, that is actually growth within ourselves. It is a way of challenging us in realizing that “hey, I see the problem there, and I am sorry.” After saying that, then you begin to grow upon yourself and strengthening your weakness that you used to apologize for; therefore, you become stronger and more able to reply on your gut instinct.

7. When we all expect something, we have dreams and goals for the expecting things happening in our lives.

Unfortunately things are not perfect. We know that the unexpected things are what make us stronger, but we cringe at the thought of it sneaking up upon us. We go through a norm each day in having a routine. But when that gets thrown off, what do have? Fear? Yes, for a split second we do but when we start to realize we could create something better and stronger in our lives, then we should jump on it and not fear the unknowing. When I took a step in a direction that I knew nothing about, it changed my life and I couldn’t be more proud. Never fear the unexpected because it can change your life.

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
