We're in that mid semester slump right now, where the semester is more than half way over and you feel overwhelmed with assignments, but also like you don't have enought time to catch back up if you're falling behind. We're bogged down with assignments and deadlines, with no sign of a school break in sight. It's arguably the roughest time in the Fall semester: this slump. I saw a post on Instagram the other day and it said "It's called Fall because everything is falling... leaves, temperature, bank account, GPA, motivation." When I saw it I started yelling "YASSSSS" at my phone and then started sobbing, as the reality of being a sleep deprived, stressed out college student sunk back in. Luckily for you, reader, I'm here with some inspirational quotes to motivate you through this slump.

1. For when you start doubting yourself and your abilities:

You will get that paper done. You will pass that test. You will get to class on time.

2. You're here to learn, so soak it up, you little sponge you!

It's never too late in the semester to ask for help or to teach yourself a whole subject in a night...

3. When there's 5 weeks left in the semester and you have a D in a class.....

Seriously, you can still change it. Talk to your professor, ask if there is any makeup work or extra credit you can do, go to on campus tutoring. You probably won't get the A+ you were planning on in the beginning of the semester, but if you actually take action to change your grade, you will definitely do better.

4. Seriously, keep on pushing and keep studying because it will pay off in the end.

5. Actively decide to make today a good and productive day.

6. When your friends invite you out but you have that huge test on Monday, remember:

7. For when you bomb that test you study so hard for:

8. When you need some tough love motivation:

Also the same hours in the day that were given to Beyoncé.

9. If that tough love motivation wasn't enough, here's some more:

I have pretty great friends who are focused on school as much I am, if not more, so they have no problem calling me out when I need to study or not hanging out so they can get work done. Although I have great friends that push me and encourage me to be a better student, at the end of the day they're also students and they can't spend all their time motivating me. So push yourself to be the best you can because you're in control of your own life.

10. Keep working hard (or start working hard).

I've learned that even if you're in a major that you love or a major that you naturally excel at, you still have to work hard to be great. I quickly realized that when I started a lot of my upper level major courses this semester and had a wake up call real fast. The material is a lot harder and everyone is more serious. You got this though!

11. When you need to get your privilege in check

This is going to be all too real, when I graduate in May and realize that jobs just aren't given to you because your mom thinks your special.

12. Remember to take a break every once in a while and.....

Treat yourself to a coffee from your favorite local coffee shop, take a study break and go on a hike/ walk in nature, or get dinner with a friend. Study hard but also remember to take care of yourself. At the end of the day your mental health comes before any grade.

Remember that even though this semester slump is kicking your butt, just hang in there. I know, I know easier said than done. I'm right there with you though! Stay organized, stay focused and just take one day at a time (unless your filling out your planner, then take a week at a time!) Seriously though, you can do this!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
