No matter what your political leanings are, or what you’ve thought about the state of the executive branch for the past 8 years, we should all be able to agree on one thing: Joe Biden is a pretty awesome dude. From his long-running obsession with ice cream to his appearance in memes left and right following this election, Biden has made us smile for almost a decade in Washington. But long before his tenure as Vice President, good ole Joe was residing in the First State, making Delawareans from Wilmington to Delmar laugh for quite some time. His time as VP might be coming to an end, but we’ll look upon it fondly. Here are some of our favorite quotes from his thus far (along with some of my favorite memes of Biden that have popped up recently):

1. "His mom lived in Long Island for ten years or so. God rest her soul. And- although, she's- wait- your mom's still- your mom's still alive. Your dad passed. God bless her soul.”

Biden was talking about the mother of Irish Prime Minister Brian Cowen in March of 2010. Joe is known to put his foot in his mouth from time to time, and no matter how sloppy the recovery may be, he always corrects himself. It’s painful to watch, but kind of endearing.

2. "Folks, I can tell you I've known eight presidents, three of them intimately." August 22, 2012.

This speaks for itself. Maybe not the best word choice, but he definitely gets his point across.

3. "My mother believed and my father believed that if I wanted to be president of the United States, I could be, I could be Vice President!" May 16, 2012.

It’s not easy becoming the Vice President of the United States of America, and it’s probably even harder being just one step down from being the most powerful politician in the world. But while Barack Obama may be standing tall on the top step, Biden is standing one step down, probably making weird faces or muttering slightly inappropriate or ill-timed comments.

4. "I promise you, the president has a big stick. I promise you." April 26, 2012.

In this quote, Biden is referencing Teddy Roosevelt’s famous saying, "Speak softly and carry a big stick; you will go far." Unfortunately, this rendition takes it to a more *cough* personal level.

5. "Stand up, Chuck, let 'em see ya." September 12, 2008.

This quote is definitely one of the more cringeworthy ones. Joe Biden said this to Missouri state Senator Chuck Graham, who just so happens to be in a wheelchair. Ouch.

6. "This is a big f**king deal!" March 23, 2010.

This final, and my favorite comment by Biden was uttered during the health care signing ceremony. Biden didn’t realize it was going to be captured by the microphones in the room, but boy was it. It just comes to show you, even the most powerful men in the world still slip up sometimes and enjoy the occasional use of the f-word for emphasis.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
