21 Quotes You Should Hear By The Time You're 21

In This Article:

Do you remember that old saying, "Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me?" Over time I have learned that I have never heard anything more untrue than those words alone.

On one hand, words can be forgiven, but they can never be forgotten, but on the other hand, words can hold so much power and meaning in them that can grant you the motivation and serenity that you need when your whole world feels like it's crashing down.

The following 21 quotes have been words that have encouraged, helped, and saved me over my 21 years of life. Enjoy the read, and feel free to imagine and create your very own meaning behind each and every one of them, so that when you feel that you have nothing, they are there to remind you that you have everything.

Only will your darkest times, bring forth your best and most significant moments and life lessons. Remember this when you think your world has gone dark.

Diamonds are a result of a volcanic eruption, so even in your most ridiculous outbursts, you can come out sparkling.

He will always protect you, have faith.

Keep fighting, He believes in you. YOU ARE CAPABLE.

Don't rely on others to make your dreams become reality. You're the author of your own life.

Stop doing it. You can't rediscover something that is lost.

I prefer my coffee with lots of sugar and either french vanilla or hazelnut creamer.

You'll always regret it. Be rational, be smart. Don't let your emotions control you.

Don't let the rest of the world make the decisions of your life.

He will handle everything you cannot, trust Him. Lean on Him. Stop letting anxiety win, you are strong, you are capable.

SO. IMPORTANT. Don't abide by societal norms, don't let them tell you how to dress, how to act, what to say, and who to be.

Get off your high horse and give this quote a thought.

If you give up, you'll know you don't love it.

If you don't understand yet, you will soon. Hurting someone who hurt you will hurt you more than it will ever hurt them.

Stop stressing over things you can't control, sit back and enjoy the things you have been blessed with.

If you spend all your time talking instead of listening, you'll only ever learn what you already think you know.

When all hell breaks lose, take control of your own thoughts and feelings, because chaos is untamable.

Stop letting anyone but YOU tell you what you're worth.

Do me a favor and next time you're in public, reflect on someone who stares at you, then reflect on someone who smiles at you. A smile might not make your bad day go away, but a dirty look will make sure it doesn't.

Be a warrior in a world of zombies.

And if all else fails, take a deep breath. Inhale something fresh, exhale all the mess.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
