A Quote For When...
www.psychologies.co.uk

Even the happiest people sometimes have horrible days. Just when you think your life is going the way it should be, you will face trials and tribulations of many kinds. When the world around you suddenly begins to crumble, how are you supposed to cope? How can you possibly save your sense of self as well as your sanity? Even the wisest person needs advice sometimes. Here are 10 quotes for when you are needing a little motivation and reassurance in your day-to-day life:

1. For when you are feeling as though you are the only person on the planet who is suffering such an insurmountable level of pain and hurt, such a level that you feel you could never overcome:

"We are all broken, that's how the light gets in."
- Ernest Hemingway

You are never alone in the feeling of being broken and useless. But the only way you can ever be fixed, is to first be broken. It is like the saying, "it gets worse before it gets better;" such is the same with your worldly pain. Sometimes you have to go through the storm to find dry land, but you will eventually find dry land!

2. For when you are so concerned with the thoughts and perceptions of others, that you forget how to stay true to yourself and what you believe:

"It is far better to be alone, than to be in bad company."
- George Washington

Everyone has gone through a period in their life when they have lost friends. It seems like the most heart-breaking thing at the time; however, what we forget, is that sometimes losing certain friends is for the better. You cannot allow someone to remain a part of your life if they are going to drag you down a path of uncertainty and lack of trust.

3. For when you feel like nothing is going your way, and you realize that no matter how hard you try, you cannot change the world around you by yourself, or solely for yourself:

"There is only one corner of the universe you can be certain of improving, and that's your own self."
- Aldous Huxley

In all reality, the only person you can really fix or change is yourself. Sometimes we think that we can alter someone else's life just by being a good influence; however, you cannot truly change the way they think and feel, because every person is wired differently. You have to focus on changing your own life for the better, and then eventually the troubles of the outside world will fade away.

4. For when you are facing a trial of great proportion and it succeeds in stopping you dead in your tracks:

"Problems are not stop signs, they are guidelines."
- Robert H. Schuller

Even when you feel like you have reached the end of your rope of possibility and you think you are unable of conquering, you have to remember that you are an overcomer! You will come across many road blocks in your lifetime, but none are too big for you to defeat. Use these opportunities to test your strength and your faith, and I promise you will prevail!

5. For when you are so blind-sighted by your own self-absorbed nature, that you forget to care for others, just as your Father in Heaven cares for you:

"Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier."

- Mother Teresa

We are called to do two things, in our earthly lives. That is; to worship and glorify God in all that we do, and to go and make disciples of all nations, teaching them about the immensity of God's grace and unconditional love (Matthew 28:19). Don't you want strangers to look at you and think, "wow, she/he is so kind and loving, and I want to be friends with them"? To spread your own love, is to spread God's love.

6. For when you are feeling like you aren't good enough, and that you have no direction for your life:

"All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them."
- Walt Disney

Life is hard. That is a fact. However, even when you feel like you are inferior to the world around you, you can still succeed! As cheesy as it may sound, you can accomplish anything you set your mind to. You just have to be all in and face it head on with a determination that won't shatter.

7. For when you need to learn to be patient, and to enjoy the little things in life:

"Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant."

- Robert Louis Stevenson

Often times, as human beings, we tend to be impatient. We expect instant results, whether it be studying for a test or maybe even teaching others about the love of Jesus. For example, when you tell someone about God, or invite them to church, you are planting a seed. That seed may grow, but it will not be instantaneous. Someone else may very well reap the benefits. And sometimes, that seed may not grow at all, but at least you planted it!

8. For when you are feeling too fearful to even try and find happiness in life:

"Everything you've ever wanted is on the other side of fear."

- George Addair

If we let it, fear can become overpowering in our life, taking over every aspect of it until it strips us of ourselves completely. Do not let fear hold you back from being the best version of yourself. If you can get over the initial fear, in something that may seem like your worst nightmare, you can accomplish anything. Fear is just a word we humans use to excuse ourselves from doing something we don't want to do.

9. For when you feel lost and defeated:

"In three words, I can sum up everything I've learned about life: it goes on."

- Robert Frost

No matter at what point you are in life, it is never over until it is truly over. Until the day you have your final thought, or the day you inhale your very last breath, your life is not over. Sometimes it can feel like we are facing too many battles in life, and no matter what we do, we cannot seem to reign victorious. Even when this day of defeat comes, and it most certainly will, you still have a lot of life left to live. You cannot let your defeats of the present triumph over your accomplishments in the future.

10. For when you cannot find a reason to be happy:

"Be happy for this moment. This moment is your life."
- Omar Khayyam

We were all created for a specific purpose. Each one of us has a special gift within us, and when we discover that, our lives will feel complete. But, until then, just be happy that you are alive, that you woke up to walk another day on this planet. We often take for granted the wonderful lives we were given. Even if life does not seem to be going your way, in time you learn to enjoy it as it is unfolding, rather than after it has already done so.

28 Daily Thoughts of College Students

"I want to thank Google, Wikipedia, and whoever else invented copy and paste. Thank you."

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
