Once again, my local priest led me to think deeper into a current topic. This week Father Gale touched on the false missile alert that Hawaii received. He connected it to Sunday’s reading to how we take living every day. Do we sit around and take “time” for granted, and then panic when we fear we are running out of it?
He talked about us being afraid to step out and take a risk when we are living our everyday life, but from one threatening moment, our mind will flash all of the opportunities we didn’t take out of fear. What are you waiting for?
Why are you allowing yourself to be held back when God will be there to guide you through the days and the adventures? Why wait until there isn’t the chance to fall in love, to grow in faith, to get a degree, or do something crazy on your bucket list?
What are you waiting for? Life is a precious gift that we’ve been given, and we don’t need to rush through it, but it also shouldn’t be wasted constantly. Learn something new and be proactive. Buy a friend some flowers or take them to coffee. Take the time to understand someone close to you.
What are you waiting for? Let go of the fear and ties that are holding you back and see what you are capable of. A wise monkey once told a lion, Yes, the past can hurt, but you can either run from it or learn from it.
If you wait around and live life waiting in a bubble to keep yourself from getting hurt, you are missing out on amazing things. Love fully, live (somewhat) recklessly, and take a risk and leap of faith.
What are you really waiting for? There are endless surprises around every corner. Go find them. Don’t be afraid. “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10
