Honestly, when Donald Trump and Chris Christie announced that they were running for president, I was prepared for it to be a sick joke and that celebrity would come on the screen yelling "you've just been PUNK'D". When no one did, I thought the world must be ending.

Coming from the state in which Christie governs, it's a no-brainer that I'm not going to be voting for him anytime soon.

As for Donald Trump, although I have always thought he's arrogant and was in complete shock when he was serious about running for office, I was willing to give him a chance. According to the polls done at the one and only Polling Institute here at Quinnipiac University, people are giving him that same chance.

Trump has apparently been edging out his main competition, Cruz, with 31 percent of the vote of the Republican caucus. Cruz currently is following behind with 28 percent of the vote. (Christie, I'm proud to say only has 3 percent of people willing to vote for him so I don't think he will be the Republican's nomination for president anytime soon.)

So although they might be feeling this way about their republican choice, I definitely do not feel the same.

I give Trump a lot of credit for speaking his mind. There's something to his lack or censor that Americans need to learn from because we are too sensitive in today's society. There is a line, though, between speaking your mind, and being arrogant and not knowing when to shut your mouth. While I acknowledge that for the average person, it can be difficult to find a balance between the two, those putting themselves in the public eye, especially those who desire to represent their country should know the line and avoid crossing it at all costs. Roosevelt's idea of "speak softly and carry a big stick" must be lost of Trump.

He makes a great point when he says we need to better foreign policy regarding immigration, but I'm not sure a giant wall mimicking the one in China is the way to go. Nor do I think that the citizens of Mexico will agree to fund it. If his "great wall" gets built, all relations with Mexico can become cut off. This means no tourist vacations, no trade, and could cause the same animosity we have had with Cuba. I'm not so sure that's what we want, especially if it will then yield similar scenarios with other trade partners. I may not know how the rest of the country feels, but I sure do not want to risk not only entering another World War but being the cause of one because of our new and horrible (a nicely put understatement) foreign policy.

In addition to how I feel about his foreign policy, I hate his policy on Planned Parenthood. While I was personally don't agree with the idea of abortion, why are you taking away another person's right on how they treat their own body just because you don't like it. I could go on rants about how I don't agree with abortion, and I can go on rants about how you're taking away a right by making it illegal.

Regardless of how I feel or how he feels, the fact of the matter is that the government was founded upon upholding a person's best interest and wants and working to fight for the rights of people as a whole.

He's overstepping his power by saying he will shut down Planned Parenthood. Yes, some clinics perform abortions, but Planned Parenthoods also provide cheaper ways for women to get birth control, have check-ups and get tested for various STIs as well as pregnancy. It also is a means for teenagers and young adults to become educated on safe sex. So taking away an entire institution, will cause a huge loss of jobs across the board, from receptionists to medicine distributors, to the doctors and midwives who work there. Letting the extreme opinion of one affect the whole country defeats what our head of our country is supposed to stand for.

Not to mention his unnecessary rant on "ET Tonight" about how much he dislikes Rosie O'Donnell. Most of us already don't like her, so Trump, you're beating a dead horse and making yourself look like a pompous, arrogant individual (to say it without using expletives). Maybe the Democratic nomination will be someone who can actually do a good job.
