As someone completely and utterly consumed by music and it's industry, I can spurt out a fountain of details depicting my favorite songs and bands, the perfect setlist I've experienced live, my favorite interview with an artist and what it meant to me, the importance of live music, and the way a person's favorite song might be able to tell you more about that person than even they can articulate. But from the outside, you can't quite understand or appreciate that. If you don't care for music or fathom its beauty, you don't hold this fabric of music near and dear to your heart. Because that's what anyone in love with music will tell you it is; a fabric. Music is one huge, welcoming, encompassing quilt.

Every album, artist, and song add patch after patch making more room for people to feel at home under. We confide in, rest in music. We curl up underneath it and take shelter behind words strung together far more perfect than we could ever say. We hold the quilt up over us like a victory flag, dancing along to the beat of the best days of our lives. And we use this same quit to wipe away our tears when only chords can comfort us. This quilt gets bigger and bigger every year, month, and day with more tours and more fans, with more and more people joining underneath this world of sound waves that can only truly be appreciated from the inside.

We stand up proudly underneath, waving and motioning for more people to join us, knowing they can only experience full appreciation through participation. This quilt knows no boundary of language, religion, location, occupation, age or stage of life. This global fabric stretches as far as the eye can see, and we dance freely below the fresh universe it is so kind to let us dwell in.

A movie with no score? A silent drive to work? A first dance to no love song? We wouldn't dare to even consider these things because music is ingrained into our daily lives, so much so that sometimes we don't even realize it. The quilt surrounds us by the second. So run, sprint, gallop and hop and skip beneath it. Buy the concert tickets, share the playlist, appreciate the background music and dance like no one is watching. These moments are fleeting, but they can feel infinite under this quilt of the cosmic composition.

SO much love to the underground zine and everything they stand for. Forever obsessed with music and the people who make it happen.

5 Things To Do That Are Better Than Writing A Paper

Don't waste your time trying to write that paper when there are so many more interesting things you could be doing.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?

I can barely remember back when I was the only child. Most would say it’s because it is extremely difficult to remember things as a toddler but I would say it's because I was bored until my sister came along. My mother always says how important the "sister bond" is and with every year that passes I realize how right she is. Instead of writing a novel about all of the wonderful things there are about having a sister I decided to list a few of them instead.

It is the time of our lives that we are beginning to enter the adult world and most of us, if not all of us, have no idea what we are doing. It's like starting a video game, but skipping the tutorial. We're all just running around aimlessly hoping we accidentally do something right that moves us along the right path. Now that graduation has just happened, or is right around the corner for some of us, it's time to start thinking about how we are going to take care of ourselves once we are on our own.

If you’re anything like me, you love a good cup of coffee. My coffee always comes from Starbucks; I refuse to drink it from anywhere else. Over the years, it’s become one of my biggest addictions. College involves a whirlwind of emotions, whether it’s from the stress of an assignment (or twenty), or from fighting with your roommate. It can be overwhelming at times and it’s important to take a step a back and calmly think things over. Maybe gain some perspective.
