I rarely go to the movies. As a broke college student, the thought of spending 10+ dollars on a movie I could stream three months from now for a quarter of that price is almost insulting. However, I really enjoy a good thriller. I truly believe the only moves worth the spending the money to see in a theatre are thrillers.
Why? Well, the screen is huge and when you're already on the edge of your seat and something happens on the huge screen, the effect is magnetized compared to at home. So, when I saw that "A Quiet Place" had 100% review from critics from Rotten Tomatoes (has gone down to 96% since I first looked), I decided this movie would defiantly be worth the money. In my opinion it 100% was. These are the reasons you need to see this movie... like now!!!
1. This is not a stupid horror movie.
I've heard a lot about how this movie is a horror movie, but I would disagree. It almost reminded me of the movie Signs that was released in 2002. While this movie is suspenseful, and at times slightly graphics, the storyline is amazing. None of the gore is overdone, and everything done has a purpose.
2. The CGI is amazing.
Don't you hate movies where the whole plot is ruined by horrific CGIs? Well, this is NOT the case for this movie. The aliens are creepily realistic and fit into the scene perfectly. There was never an awkward pause or a moment in the film where the aliens looked like odd cartoons. If you're looking for nightmares, these creatures will do the trick.
3. The cast is stunning.
I am not sure if it is that John Krasinski and Emily Blunt are married in real life, Millicent Simmonds is actually deaf, or Noah Jude is just an excellent young actor, but the acting in this movie is flawless. The character dynamics were interesting, and for a movie with little words, the characters displayed so much emotion in their faces and body movements.
This is just three reasons, to go see this amazing new movie in theaters. If you need another, note that Regal Theaters have been upgrading their seats to reclining seats with plenty of room. I was shocked how nice and comfortable the seats were compared to the last time I saw a movie.
I predict this movie to become a timeless classic. The plot line is flawless, the CGI is modern, and the cast is absolutely magnificent.
Go see this movie in theaters while you still can, but don't get the popcorn, this film will have you fearing to make any noise.
