The day is coming upon us where we as Americans, collectively decide the fate of our nation. I know you've all probably heard time and time again that staying home equates to a vote for Trump or voting third-party is doing just the same.
As Election Day approaches, one thing is becoming more and more apparent—this is not in any way, shape or form going to be a landslide in favor of the GOP or in favor of the Democratic Party for that matter. Trump is obviously no longer a joke, but he's rather a threat to the Oval Office and our entire nation respectively.
As I write this article, I am trying to stay as neutrally minded as possible, in light of the idea that we as adults in America have not only the right to form our own opinion about who would or would not be the best option as leader of our nation. However, the opportunity to shape the future for generations of our great nation to come by voting. A lot of us perceive this particular election as a way of cutting our losses for lack of a better term.
Both primary candidates have their flaws and some more than others, yet it might still be difficult to find the motivation to check one of these individuals on our ballet on Election Day this coming November.
Let's all try to take a moment to envision the direction of our nation from both sides of the spectrum:
On one end, you have "Billary," who has been in the media a lot lately for all of the wrong reasons. She may make promises with no intentions of following through on, as well as give the cynical Republican a heartache, but in a way, her bad qualities seem (for the most part) minuscule in contrast to that of the Donald. While watching that man address the media, I am hard pressed to visualize a destiny with him not containing pure chaos. People, how can you expect a man that rarely ever forgets to talk about "punching" people to properly manage his foreign affairs? I'm going to stop myself there, as I said before, I am trying to keep this piece simply food for thought rather than a persuasive piece.
On another note, a third-party nominee has made his way onto to the ballet. Though I am not as familiar with Gary Johnson's policies as I am with Trump and Hilary's, it seems like he could be the common ground we need between the two extremes.
Howbeit he is a long shot away from the presidency, a vote for the third-party can do more than to simply be wasted. It could help lay the infrastructure for a future third-party candidate to win Americas' vote by showing us all that it is possible. Hopefully, it can put an end to the two broken party systems that we currently operate on.
When the day comes upon us, please don't be that person complaining about our next president when you stayed at home during the election. Get out and vote. You could be the difference.
