As you may know if you've read me before, I graduated this past May and have spent my time working since July. Although I'm not taking any classes, I still live in the same apartment, so I get to spend a lot of time with my friends. In some ways, it feels like I'm taking a semester off rather than actually having graduated, which is pretty odd.
Seeing where in my life I am and how time has passed so quickly, I wanted to take a moment to actually think about it. How I'm not yet 21 years old but already have a double BA, and how I probably couldn't have predicted I'd be here merely five years ago. It's crazy when you really think about it.
If you're reading this and you're still in college, I just wanted to tell you that you're very brave and strong, because college isn't for everyone. If you have the guts to dedicate your life to studying hard and sacrificing those precious Friday or Saturday nights in order to have a decent GPA to bring back home, then you're my idol. You're what our generation should thrive to be and you deserve recognition.
Having dreams makes life very hard, but working to achieve them is one of the most satisfying things you can do with your life. If you're an artist like I am, or a hard science guy or social science girl, or whatever you are, the most important thing is that you're doing your best, and actually trying.
Like Les Brown once said, "Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among stars."
Share this with everyone who's feeling blue this week, and remind them they're awesome.
Peace out.
