Lorelai conceived Rory with her high-school sweetheart when she was sixteen. The show follows Rory and Lorelai’s close mother-daughter relationship from Rory’s early high school days to the end of her time in college. The show revolves around friendships, love lives, life lessons and careers of Rory and Lorelei.

Lorela: Lorelai currently owns the Dragonfly Inn. Lorelai dated many men throughout the series but the two memorable ones were Christopher and Luke. Lorelai spent most of season 5 and 6 with Luke and the two became engaged. Luke found out he was a father and his daughter April’s role in his life caused tension between him and Lorelai. After a dramatic end to her prolonged engagement with Luke, she briefly married Christopher (Rory’s father) in season seven. By the end of season seven, she and Christopher are divorced and the series ends with her and Luke sharing a kiss.

Rory: Rory attended Chilton prep school and then with some persuasion from her grandparents she chose to attend Yale. She majored in English and served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Yale Daily News. In high school, she dated Dean, the kind, sweet, boy-next-door. The two end their relationship when Rory began to date Luke’s nephew Jess who was a well-read, rebellious high-school dropout. Then Jess left Rory without a goodbye. Later on, she temporarily had a relationship with a married Dean. Dean left his wife and he and Rory stayed together briefly then Rory moved on to Logan. Logan was a rich, daring, Yale business student. Rory dated Logan long distance for a while and the two stayed a serious couple from season five to season seven. The series ends with Rory graduating from Yale, turning down a marriage proposal from Logan and leaving town to be a reporter for President Obama’s election campaign.

Luke: Luke owns the local self-titled diner. He met Lorelai and Rory through their desperate need for coffee. Luke served as a somewhat father figure to Rory and supported her and encouraged her through her time at Chilton and Yale. He dated Lorelai off and on throughout the show and the two spent time engaged. He found out about his daughter April in season six and won partial custody of her in season seven. He remains a staple in the lives of Lorelai and Rory throughout the ups and downs of his dating relationship with Lorelai. The series ends with Luke throwing a massive graduation party in Rory’s honor.

Christoper: Rory’s biological father. He spent much time separated from communication with Lorelai and Rory. He became more of a staple figure in their lives throughout Rory’s high school years. He and Lorelai attempted dating again in season two but he left her for his pregnant girlfriend. Once Rory was at Yale, Christopher acquired a large amount of money and started paying Rory’s tuition. He and Lorelai then dated again and got married in season seven. Their relationship ends when Christopher read the character reference Lorelai wrote for Luke’s custody battle and Christopher confronted Lorelai about still having feelings for Luke. The series ends with Christopher and Lorelai having an amicable relationship and continuing to both love and support Rory.

Emily and Richard: Lorelai’s parents and Rory’s grandparents. They shared and estranged relationship until Rory’s high school years when Lorelai asked to borrow money in order to send Rory to Chilton. The four then started the tradition of Friday night dinners. Rory lived with them when she dropped out of school and was fighting with her mother. The series ends with Richard and Emily celebrating Rory’s graduation.

Dean: Rory’s high-school sweetheart. He worked at Doose’s Market then later became a construction worker who worked on the Dragonfly Inn. He was married to Lindsey but slept with Rory and his marriage fell apart. He then dated Rory until she left him for Logan. When the series ends, Dean has not been present for a while.

Jess: Luke’s nephew and Rory’s bad boy. He lived with Luke temporarily because of his bad behavior and poor relationship with his mother. He then met Rory and the two flirted for a while until finally dating. Jess dropped out of school and then decided to leave town without saying goodbye. Later in the series, Jess returned and gave Rory a copy of the book he published. When the series ends, we are unsure where Jess is.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
