A Quick Guide To Housing Searches

You have to love where you live. Some people love living the apartment lifestyle and others are hoping for a home to themselves. Either way, searching for exactly what you want through hundreds of housing sites can be time-consuming, frustrating, and just not a pleasant experience. To lessen your housing search stresses, check out this quick reference guide to make your search simple.

Searching on a low budget

Plenty of sites feature tools to decide what price range you want your new home to stay within. That being said, plenty of us have experienced putting in your price and having the website come up with nothing. For more options, try craigslist. I know right away you may think it's just a sketchy site that won’t get you anywhere, but plenty of homeowners don’t want to deal with property management companies so they post for themselves on craigslist, thus cutting out the middleman and lowering your rent!

Shopping for a house to yourself

For those looking to have a little space of their own, it can be hard to find individual house listings on a lot of popular housing websites. That being said, some are extremely useful when it comes to looking for a whole house. Zillow, Trulia, and Craigslist are all great to check regularly for new listings and easily contact a property management company or the owners themselves with just one mouse click.

Looking for apartment living

When you try to search for apartments in your area, the only results you get are the higher priced, massive buildings that you weren’t interested in to begin with. Instead of searching for apartments, search for property management companies in your area. Most have a list of their properties and what will be available in your time frame and in your budget. Even though this is a little more work than using a popular website, you are more likely to get a response back and find apartments that aren’t listed anywhere but that management website.

No matter what you are looking for, there is a way to simplify your housing search and make your life easier. Just follow these tips for a simpler, less stressful search!

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.

For many undergraduates across the nation, the home stretch has begun. Only one more semester remains in our undergraduate career. Oh, the places we will go! For the majority of college seniors, this is simultaneously the best and worst year out of the past four and here’s why.

1. The classes you are taking are actually difficult.

A schedule full of easy pottery throwing and film courses is merely a myth on the average campus. With all of those prerequisites for the upper-level courses and the never-ending battle you fight each year during registration for limited class seats, senior year brings with it the ability to register for the final courses you need to fulfill your major. Yet, these are not the easy entry level courses. These are the comprehensive, end of major, capstone courses designed to apply the knowledge from all your previous courses, usually in the form of an extensive research paper or engaged learning project. The upside is you actually probably really enjoy these classes but alas there is no room for slackers here.
