Questions You Hear Living In A Sorority House

If you’re in a sorority that you love, then you’re lucky. If you get the chance to live in that sorority’s chapter house, you’re luckier. For one year, you get to spend every day with your best friends, and there's genuinely nothing better. Conversation in the house never stops, and the questions are always flowing. Here's a few of the most common questions asked in a sorority house.

“Can I look in your closet?”

Living in a sorority house means all closets are fair game. There's something to wear for any occasion. Fest tomorrow? Someone has a jersey. Last minute ask to a date party? One of your sisters has the perfect dress.

“Did I see you last night?”

There are certainly some nights that get a little blurry, and the next morning is debatably the best part about it. Once everyone gathers in the living room and starts gossiping about the night before, this question is inevitable.

“Can you come home? I’m bored.”

Living with 29 other people leaves little time to be alone. But when you finally are alone, it feels unnatural.

“What’s for dinner?”

The menu for each week hangs on the fridge and gets sent in the in-house GroupMe, but every day someone is bound to ask what's for dinner.

“Are we going out tonight?”

Living with your best friends means nearly everything is done as a group. The question is never should I go out tonight, but rather are we going out tonight. And you don't want to be the lame girl staying in.

“Casual or cute?”

As soon as going out is decided, this question immediately follows. Any day of the week at the bars here in Athens could go either way, but it's always a squad-wide decision.

“Wait, who’d you hook up with?”

Secrets don't exist living in a sorority house. If you try to hide anything from your sisters, they will catch you, and they will interrogate you until you crack and spill all the deets of your most recent hookup.

“Has anyone seen my [insert favorite article of clothing]?”

The downside of sharing literally everything is that you will definitely lose a major part of your wardrobe. And it will probably be something that you absolutely love and reluctantly lent to someone.

“Does house mom even live here?”

House moms are awesome, don't get me wrong, but sometimes it's easy to forget that they're around. One day you see them and think, "Wow, I forgot you lived here, too."

“Can we just never move out?”

As my time living in my sorority house is coming to a quick end, I can't help but think about how great it would be to live here forever. There's nothing better than being with your best friends every second of every day, and we definitely never want to move out.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
