Who's older?

If you are a twin then you probably get asked these questions or told these things on a daily basis. It's not always annoying, but by now we've been asked these questions for years and it can be repetitive. To us, being a twin is nothing new and something we just have to kind of live with. To people that are not a twin, it can be fascinating, or maybe you don’t care! Either way, here are some of these common questions.

1. Are you twins?

Yes, we are. I know some siblings maybe look similar so that's why people ask this question, but c'mon. It's pretty obvious we are twins. However, it is a great way to start a conversation and considering how awkward I am, I wouldn't know how else to start a conversation!

2. Who's older?

I mean, I'm older, just for the record...but only by a minute. I also love the look on my sister’s face when I say I'm older and we are both 18, because I'm not wrong.

3. I wish I was a twin.

I don’t get why people say this, it doesn’t feel any different then having other siblings. A lot of people say its because they want someone that looks like them because they would do all these mischievous things. Maybe it seems fun to other people and not to me because I’ve had a twin all my life and it’s the only thing I’ve ever known.

4. Do you like being a twin?

I guess I do. I mean there’s nothing I can do to change the fact that I am a twin, and I love my sister so I wouldn’t want it any other way. Being a twin is the norm to me and it is pretty awesome in one way or another!

5. How do I tell you guys apart?

That is a question I cannot answer. Other sets of twins may have the answer to that, but my sister and I do not. To each other, we think we look nothing alike so that question usually leaves us dumbfounded. Also, my sister and I are considered fraternal twins, so we are supposed to look different!

6. Are you sure you’re not identical?

What kind of question is that? Yes I am 100 percent sure. I know we look similar, but I know for a fact we are fraternal and I put my trust in the doctors that they know what fraternal twins are. I’m not playing a joke on you, we are not identical.

7. Do you guys get along?

Do other siblings who aren’t twins get along? No, not all the time. Yes we argue to the point we annoy our mother, but at the end of the day that is my sibling and I would do anything for her. So, yes we SOMETIMES get along, but we are like any other siblings.

8. What’s it like being a twin?

Again, it’s something I have lived with since birth so I know no difference. At times it is weird thinking you have a sibling that looks a lot like you and is the same age as you, and not everyone is like that. I mean if you think it’d be awesome to be a twin then sure, it is, if you think it would suck, then yes sometimes it does, especially when you’re constantly called the wrong name.

I love being a twin, I love the bond my sister and I have. It can be difficult to be called the wrong name, get asked questions like #5 and not really have an answer to it, or have assumptions that because you look the same you must like the same things. Yes we laugh the same unfortunately and say things at the same time, but we are very different people. I wouldn’t change being a twin for anything in the world.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.
