Picture it. You get home, you get ready for bed and you have the unfortunate fate of staring at yourself in the mirror. You continue to stand there and a minute passes. Two minutes, five minutes. You just look at yourself and think is this who I want to be? I this who I am? Am I doing everything I can to achieve my goals and be where I want to be in the next 5 years? You question everything just by getting this simple glimpse of yourself and looking dead in your eyes, into your soul. Why is it we make the decisions we do? Who are we? Why can't I fix myself? Why is it we have the regrets we have? Should we have regrets? Should we worry about those regrets, or realize they are in the past and there's nothing to do to fix them and move on? What am I supposed to do to give myself a meaningful life? To make a difference. I don't think anyone has the answers to these questions. You can try and find the cliche answer being that the answers come from within, but does it? Or is it the actions that we take that make us who we are that inevitably make us who we will become, and with that realizing who we want to be if our actions don't line up with our own beliefs or what we want to strive to be. Life is about growing up in a way, but at the same, it's almost about trying to stay the same innocent kid we were at 5 years old when we were able to go up to a new friend and just play. We focus so much on tomorrow, and our decisions and how they shape our lives and don't realize what's important, and that's now. The present. Sure looking at the future is important and key to success, but it doesn't create happiness. It creates stress, just like looking at past mistakes. Realize they were mistakes and learn from them, grow, don't repeat them, and while looking into the future, realize what you have to do to get to your destination, and stop thinking about what you have to do. You have to know when you have to stop thinking and go out and live your life and make the choices you need to succeed in the present. So, now when you catch a glimpse of yourself in the mirror, change your perspective. Don't think about how you're not where you want to be just yet, because it takes time. If you put too much pressure on yourself and your aspirations are up to the stars and you're still on the ground you haven't given yourself enough time to reach the stars. Don't beat yourself up for not being the best you can be just yet, because all that you can ask yourself is am I better than I was before yesterday.
