Netflix's new show "Queer Eye" just came out a month ago, and since then it has shown us how important and relatable some reality shows can actually be. It is not your typical you-need-to-change-your-outfit-to-feel-better makeover show but it takes time to show the viewers who you are is important and how you present yourself to the world shows how you will be treated. Queer Eye is jam-packed, full to the brim of advice, especially for your emotional well-being.
So many people are talking about the rebooted makeover show, where a "Fab Five" sort another's guy's life out in a frankly impossible three days. The Fab Five spent an equal amount of time and effort working on each guy's emotional well-being, rather than just redoing his outfits and his house. So many makeover shows give the impression that looking good and having a nice house equate to being happy and feeling good, but Queer Eye shows you that is just the beginning.
Most makeover shows focus on that person's negatives and expand on them but the Fab Five always find positives about the guy and expand on that. Queer Eye shows that you are amazing just the way you are. It is less about changing who you are and more about nurturing what you already have.
This show brings out advice for the participant but also for the viewers. After watching it, it makes you feel that you need to stop neglecting your emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. They also focus on body positivity, with special attention given to the fact that the world won't open up unless you let it by opening yourself up.
It is a show that deconstructs toxic masculinity and shows how opening up and talking about your emotions is not a weakness. And, of course, it is a show that reminds you that it is never too late to change the things about yourself that you are unhappy with.
Queer Eye is a wholesome, lovely show that is extremely good for your mental health and you have to watch it if you are in the mood for people just being genuinely really fucking lovely to each other.
