There was a time back in the day, and I mean way back in the day (1588 back in the day). Queen Elizabeth I had some unique thoughts against the Spanish Armada during her time being queen. I thought it would be cool to go down memory lane a little and talk about how some of the things she said and apply them to our lives with some of my own words and a few funny/entertaining gifs.
Without Further ado here are 5 thoughts that we all had about Queen Elizabeth I against the Spanish Armada:
1. "I do not desire to live to distrust my faithful and loving people."
The Queen doesn't want her people having the feeling like Stich is having. She wants her troops to know that she isn't going to let her fear of The Spanish Armada take over her faith that she has in her troops. Her faith allows her to continue speaking to her troops and to tell them how much she truly does care about them or else she would not have called them faithful and loving.
2. "I have always so behaved myself that, under God, I have placed my chiefest strength and safeguard in the loyal hearts and good will of my subjects."
She puts her strength in Him and wants to believe that there is good in her troops that she comes across in regards to them fighting the Armada. She knows that her subjects have open hearts and minds because she believes in and wants the best for when her troops are out in the field fighting. Her belief in her troops stems from God, so without Him, her words would not have been the exact same to her troops. She would not have been as influential.
3. "I myself will take up arms; I myself will be your general, judge, and rewarder of every one of your virtues in the field. "
She wants to let them know that she isn't going anywhere anytime soon and is not planning to. She is there to support and to help in any way she can to her troops, which in this case it is through her powerful words and how she is feeling in regards to them fighting the Armada. She wants them to fight their best fight and to be on the sidelines watching.
4. "I know already, by your forwardness, that you have deserved rewards and crowns..."
She believes that her troops deserve what they have earned. They have worked really hard to get where they are. She recognizes their diligence during this time. She wants them to get rewarded for what they have done on the battlefield.
5. "We shall shortly have a famous victory over the enemies of my God, of my kingdom, and of my people."
Towards the end, she mentions that they will have a famous victory. They may not have been in Orange like my tigers, but they have bled their orange (hard work) to get to this point. She knows and has faith in that they will defeat the Armada. The troops will "crush" their enemies.
To conclude, Queen Elizabeth the 1st went on a crazy journey as a ruler during the fight of the Spanish Armada. She clearly had a lot of feelings and emotions towards the situation for her troops and she truly wanted to have a voice in what was going on. Her way of words did just that, it allowed her to speak up during this time and allowed her to get everything off her chest that she wanted to get off.
