5 Ways To Stay Healthy During Quarantine

Leaving the house isn't really an option, but your health always is.

It's disconcerting for a usually busy person to suddenly have so much time on their hands. In fact, a lot of us don't even know what to do. If you're smart, you'll realize that this forced isolation is actually an opportunity to help yourself-- or even to maintain your already healthy lifestyle. Either way, these are some of the things that have kept me going the past few weeks.

Drink Water!

If you're like me, you consume a whole pack of soda in about a week. However, these days it's unnerving and sometimes difficult to get to a store and buy a stash each week. Instead, take this time to start drinking water. And not just boring, ordinary water! Sparkling water comes in many different flavors and gives you the fizzy feeling soda gives you-- with 100% less calories.

Exercise!

Because of the worldwide epidemic, many online fitness programs are discounting their programs or even providing them for free. This is all in an effort to get people to stay home, but if you always find yourself busy, now is the perfect time to start incorporating fitness into your routine! This doesn't have to include running or intense weightlifting, though; a simple yoga session or some pilates in the living room will do wonders for your body (and your mood)!

Vitamins And Supplements!

Unfortunately, these little guys are overlooked during times of medical panic. When the toilet paper is all gone, the vitamins seem to be fully stocked. This is a crucial time to worry about your immune system-- so start supporting it! Take a trip to your local grocery or drug store and invest in some immune-boosting vitamins and probiotics. The best defense your body has against sickness is its immune system, not a mask and gloves!

Eat Mindfully!

A silver lining for many of us is that fast food has become increasingly difficult to acquire in this quarantine. Restaurants are closing and shortening their hours, making "fast food" become "nuisance food". Many of us rely on fast food because of its convenience to our busy schedules, but this quarantine presents an opportunity to turn it all around! Start making food at home so you can monitor the ingredients. It's much easier to count your macronutrients when you know exactly what is going into your body. It's also easier to control portions when you cook for yourself!

Tidy Your Space!

This one may seem dumb, but think about it! If you're doing online school (or whatever your quarantine schedule includes) in a messy, dirty room, you won't get much done. The mess will distract you and, in some cases, make you anxious. When you tidy up your spaces, you do your brain a favor by relieving one of its anxieties-- and you also help prevent the spread of germs! When you have nothing to do, it's never a bad idea to grab a broom and some Windex!

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

eye roll

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"

While this question trend can get annoying, there are a couple of pros to having RBF.

Yify

Another day, another Elle Woods comment. Can’t us blondes get through the day without someone harping at us over the typical stereotypes about who we are? I never understood why a person was judged based upon the hair color they were born with, or the hair color they choose to have (unless you dye your hair blue like Kylie Jenner, I’m still trying to understand why that’s a trend). Nevertheless, as it should be assumed, not everyone is the same. Not all blondes like bright colors and Lilly Pulitzer, and not all blondes claim to identify with Marilyn Monroe. I think the best suggestion to give to people before they make such radical claims is to stop judging a book by its cover. Or in this case, stop judging a blonde by her hair color.
