There is so much that goes on in people's lives that they rarely find the time to care for themselves. We all have different obligations and responsibilities that we have to attend to in our daily lives; however, that isn't an excuse to avoid taking care of ourselves and allotting some time to just relax and focus on yourself.
I don't doubt that it may seem hard to have some personal time, especially if you find yourself juggling many things at once, whether it's going to school, to work, or both. If you dorm, you take on many other responsibilities such as cleaning, cooking, doing laundry, and the like. It's a reality common to many people.
It sure is a busy reality, but in order to find yourself successfully and easily crossing things off on your to-do list, it is essential that you make however much time is necessary and feasible for yourself every day. Don't think that taking time for yourself equates with lying around watching Netflix and scarfing down a box of donuts. Although it sounds like a good time, the fact of the matter is people probably don't have a whole lot time in their schedules to do that, and it may not be the most effective way to caring for yourself.
I've learned and realized that balance is the key to doing anything with ease and success. I've found myself doing what was needed and required, but I didn't dedicate enough time and energy to really focus on myself and take a break. Many people may have a routine that they follow in order to accomplish each day's tasks, but they fail to incorporate some time to fully relax and do the things that they want to do.
Self-care can take on a variety of forms, and it's specific to each person. For one person, it may mean meditating or exercising, while for another, it may be going to a restaurant. Whatever it is, it's exceptionally important to one's well-being. Dedicating your focus on you and temporarily abandoning any of the tasks that await you is equally crucial to your daily performance. It may act as an incentive and gives you something to look forward to, whereas a lack of self-care leaves you feeling dull and unmotivated.
Regardless of your workload, it's important to prioritize yourself, and the way you can do that is through self-care. The magnitude of the action and the length of time don't matter.
Self-care can be as simple as reading a chapter of a book or running for 10 minutes. All that matters is that you put yourself first and do it.
