Putting Feelings Into Words

R. H. Sin's powerful ability to express his emotions through poetry.

Sometimes others can put our feelings into words better than we can even think to express them. This is the case for the lyrics of songs and poems and quotes. The expressions of our feelings are best represented through the words of someone else. And being able to identify these valuable emotions is part of understanding that we're experiencing them. From a list of many, I've chosen eleven short poems from the book "Whiskey, Words, And A Shovel" by R.H. Sin in hopes of maybe giving you the chance of feeling more understood and that you're not alone in what you're experiencing or going through. There are so many different ways one could go about this whether it's listening to Adele's 25 album or reading a book of modern poetry. It's important to identify these resources to feel like you're not alone, that someone else has felt the ways you are feeling and that they've survived. I have utmost respect and appreciation for those who have the ability to express their emotions so powerfully through words.

(after midnight)

After midnight is when we / often remember the things we / try our hardest to forget

(something for the night)

Tonight won't be easy / and you know that / I know it hurts / but the pain is necessary / everything meant to tear you down / will build you up / and make you stronger.

(one of those days)

It's like sunshine / peeking through the dark / clouds. I should be / happy but I'm not.

(a good heart)

The only downfall of having a / good heart is that you're / constantly looking for angels / inside of demons. And they / wonder why the good know so / much pain.

(thinking out loud)

I set fire to every memory / we made then smiled / as I watched us go up in flames.

(a sharp tongue)

Lies are like razors. You claimed / to be telling the truth yet / I watched you bleed from your / mouth.

(lie & pretend)

We all want someone to notice / our sadness and when they do / we lie and pretend to be happy.

(she's an artist)

She was broken. Yes, but / somehow she found peace in / the pieces left behind. She's / an artist in the way she pieces / herself back together to form / something stronger and a bit / more beautiful than before.

(brave)

She wore her scars / on the inside / and you'd never know / her pain / as she chooses not / to complain / so much strength in a woman.

(not a loss)

I find comfort in knowing that / I've only lost those who didn't / deserve to stay.

(reminder)

Just because you're broken doesn't / mean you're not beautiful and a moment / of weakness doesn't mean you're not / strong.
