Fall is finally here--the season of Boiler football! The Saturdays that help define Boilermaker country don’t pass without their unmistakable aromas, tailgates, fall weather, and fans that relentlessly bleed black and gold. There are some things that these days do not pass without. Boiler up!
1. You’re woken up extremely early by the die-hard tailgaters and/or Purdue Band, and you’re not even mad about it.
2. Your ears are ringing from the horn of the Boilermaker Special, and you might even find yourself chasing it down the street for a ride on the back of it.
3. Families crowd Slater Hill with breakfast burritos and buffalo chicken dip--both MAJOR components to the success of these Saturdays (thanks Mom).
4. If anyone walking around is not wearing black, gold, and a large “P” on some article of clothing, you find yourself questioning their soul, and therefore exerting borderline rude behavior towards them.
5. Purdue Pete is in full force, and he cannot be stopped.
6. Your Instagram and Facebook feeds are exploding with tailgating pictures.
7. The line for Triple XXX is most definitely out the door and alumni are practically sprinting there after the game (and probably before too).
8. If for some reason you aren’t at the actual game, you will hear the roar of the crowd every so often throughout the game. It’s the ultimate FOMO instigator.
9. If you were one of the notorious early tailgaters, you’re either barely functioning, or sleeping by noon.
10. You hear bits and pieces of the Purdue fight song all day long, regardless of the score of the game. Hail to old Purdue!
