I recently just took in, and am fostering two lab mixed puppies, Brady and Luna. Going to the shelter I was originally just getting one, and then I ended up coming home with two.
They have been the biggest learning lesson for me and I've realized how similar to children they actually are. I take them outside and they cry and jump on my legs as if they want to be held. They run around the house like madmen and then I put them in their crate and they immediately fall asleep.
The first few nights I had them, they were waking up at three am and then again at six am, but thankfully we've upgraded and now I only get up with them at six am and then they fall back asleep.
As the weeks have progressed, they have started to progress as well, and grow like no other! They have also started listening better, Luna, on the other hand, listens when she wants to, she has selective hearing. These puppies need the most possible sleep they can get or otherwise they get cranky.
When I'm pouring their food into their bowl, they act as if they've never eaten food before. Choosing to foster these puppies has been a learning curve, but it's been so much fun. I never realized how fast puppies actually grow until I witnessed them grow four inches in two weeks!
Hopefully in the future, I can continue to help dogs in need and accept them into my house and give them a loving home. Creating a bond with these dogs is awesome, but giving them up is the hard part, but I know deep down that I'm doing a good deed and helping them in the best possible way.
