It's that season again where LOTS of puppies are being purchased and brought in to new homes! While it is a beautiful thing, there is a dark side to this.
There gets to a point in a puppies life when they are no longer a puppy, they turn into fully grown dogs! This is obviously shocking to some people since they decide they no longer want to care for their dog.
Too many dogs are brought to a shelter or found. Young dogs that were probably purchased and given as a gift last Christmas. This is a sad reality that just is not right.
If you do not plan on sticking with this dog for the rest of it's life then you do not deserve to have it. To the dog, you are their entire world. They live everyday to make you happy and bring you joy.
If you are not going to be with them through all of their phases of life then don't even think about it. You are only setting this dog up for a rough and unhappy life. They deserve love and care, just as much as you do.
Before you purchase a puppy or ask for one for Christmas, ask yourself if you're willing to keep this dog no matter if it's a puppy or a fully grown dog. It will love you just as much either way, but will you love them the same?
