There's no way to deny it: At this point, Pop-Punk and Punk Rock is still going strong! Love it or hate it, those high school jams from the first half of the 2000's to now have circled back around as part of the current “Emo revival.”

On top of that, Pop-Punk and Punk Rock seem to be back in force. Popular music is cyclical, and it appears that the teenagers who grew up wearing Vans and listening to Green Day and Blink-182 are now making their own music. See, for example, As It Is and 5 Seconds Of Summer.

Get ready to jump, scream, and sing your teenage heart out, because here are my top 10 Pop-Punk / Punk Rock anthems that I think define the genre and changed my life (from the '00s to now)!

10) Hit The Lights = "F**ked Up Kids" (2015)

After three years, Ohio Pop-Punk band Hit The Lights, was back with another full length release. This, along with the rest of Summer Bones, was released in 2015, where a new explosion of interest was rising in the Pop-Punk genre. Vocalist Nick Thompson is at the forefront the vast majority of the time. His vocals have improved slightly from past releases, and while marketed as “aggressive”, prove to be anything but. This song is about being a stupid, obnoxious, wild kid in every day life, but being happy about it and not changing.

9) A Day To Remember = "All Signs Point to Lauderdale" (2010)

Because who doesn't like Punk Rock songs about a band's hometown? The title for A Day To Remember's 'All Signs Point to Lauderdale' came from an occasion when vocalist Jeremy McKinnon and bassist Joshua Woodard were in a rough neighborhood in West Palm Beach, Florida. A piece of the song came from a recording session for Homesick when Chad Gilbert, guitarist of New Found Glory and a producer, said he had an idea for the melody, which McKinnon took a while to write over: "Chad had a cool idea, vocally, for something". In an interview with PopCrush in 2011, McKinnon said the song was when you get the "feeling like you're stuck in a place that's leading you nowhere" and "standing up for yourself and taking charge of your life." This song was on What Separates Me From You, released in 2010.

8) Four Year Strong = "Go Down in History" (2014)

Released on their EP with the same name (in 2014) and then their self-titled album (in 2015), Four Year Strong went on the horizon with this song. I mean, this is one hell of a banger!!! One thing FYS has always done well is gang vocals and they really shine here, the hooks are huge, the chorus is great, a bridge that everyone can relate to as they scream along with the band at the top of their lungs. This is definitely one of Four Year Strong's best songs to date. "I know my days are numbered, so I'm making them count"... How can you not go crazy on that lyric?!?!

7) Good Charlotte = "The Anthem" (2002)

This is the anthem of mine, and your, generation!!! Released on an album called The Young & The Hopeless (2002), Good Charlotte made another song that deals with being institutionalized in high school (almost a continuation of their first hit, "Little Things"). We all get people in our lives that want to change who you are for them... I know that I had to deal with some of those people throughout my life. Basically, this song is a big "F**k you" to those people, letting them know that you're never going to change.

6) Green Day = "American Idiot" (2004)

"Don't wanna be an American Idiot, one nation controlled by the media"... That sums up our nation's current state in a nutshell. Also, let's face it... Nowadays, this song needs to come back on the radio, and the musical with the same name needs to make a Broadway revival. For all its grandiosity, American Idiot keeps its mood and method deliberately, tenaciously, and angrily on point. Music, especially back in 2004, is full of well-meaning but pan-flashing sloganeers whose tirades against the government-- whether right or wrong-- are ultimately flat. It's because of 'American Idiot' that I'm not stuck in the world of media and I care more about helping out my country. Now if only artists nowadays can take themselves seriously just like Green Day always does. I mean, have you listened to their latest album, Revolution Radio?! No? DO IT!!!

5) All Time Low = "Weightless" (2009)

2008 was a big year for All Time Low. Between landing the cover of Alternative Press magazine twice, headlining two sold-out tours and getting a whole lot of love from MTV, there wasn’t much downtime for the band. Even after they made Nothing Personal, released in 2009. Out of all the songs, even their singles before the album's release, nothing can compare to 'Weightless'. Like every All Time Low music video, this one is full of inside jokes, it featured Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy and Mark Hoppus from Blink-182, and it allowed the viewers to see what everyone is really thinking in their hands (For example, like Alex Gaskarth (vocalist) being pampered and a group of girls going backstage). With a mentality of not growing up with the crap that goes on in every day life and just being you, All Time Low's video for 'Weightless' is still a massive hit, having over 20 million views on YouTube, and it's still one of the best Pop-Punk anthems ever made!

"The whole mentality of the song is that you feel like you're stuck in a negative space, and you just want to get out!" - Alex Gaskarth

4) Sum 41 = "Fat Lip" (2001)

"I don't want to waste my time and become another casualty of society!" Basically, the song speaks for itself, in terms of the theme and mentality. Made in 2001 and off of All Killer, No Filler, Sum 41 knew how to make a fun, catchy Pop-Punk album and song that doesn't exist of solely power chords and simpleness. I mean, there's a bit of Hip-Hop and Rap influences in this song...BUT IT ACTUALLY WORKS!!!

3) New Found Glory = "Understatement" (2002)

New Found Glory's 'Understatement'... What is their to say about this song? Well, It's an excellent opener to Sticks & Stones, and it's way full of energy with a hard hitting guitar and drum sound. Jordan Pundik's voice sounds good as it is not too high or nasally, and Chad Gilbert's sounds good with the "But you're" screams. The pace lets up for a bit when Jordan does some singing with just a clean guitar but it closes with a bang! Also, the lyrics to the first forty seconds of the song is the perfect way to describe me in my late middle school days, tired of being someone I'm not and lying so I can be social with everyone...including the popular kids.

2) As It Is = "No Way Out" (2017)

This track is still new, but it has a reason to be on this list!!! Let me just start by saying this... If As It Is isn’t already on your radar, then they’re about to become your new favorite Pop-Punk band. With their new album, Okay., the Brighton, UK group have created eleven emotionally vulnerable, high energy and memorable tracks, and 'No Way Out' is one of them. This may get stuck in your head for as long as you live! Vocalist, Patty Walters, stated that this song is much like their first single, "Okay," in that 'No Way Out' tackles the emotions and metaphors that were going on in his head throughout the album writing process. Unlike the other songs on this list, this song is more on an emotional approach. It even has a hardcore bridge that not only I can relate to, but I also think it's the best bridge in any song...EVER!!! You have to listen to it in order to get the feels I am still feeling. Definitely MY favorite song of all time!

1) The All-American Rejects = "Move Along" (2005)

This one takes the cake!!! Off of their album with the same name (and released in 2005), The All-American Rejects made what many considered to be the best song ever! Honestly, there's no need to talk about this song...because both the video and lyrics did the work for me at the same time. Overall, it's amazing, and the best anthem to check out!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
