Yes, yes, the famed pumpkin spice latte is back, and soon to follow are many other favorites of the fall season. I know it's only September, but I can't help to squeal at the fact that Fall and all of its wonderful trends are quickly approaching. Here are just some of my favorite things about this soothing season.
1. Fall Scented Candles
Okay, I have to admit that I'm obsessed with candles. I'm fond of many different scents of candles, but come on now people, Fall scents are the BEST. Something about walking into a room that smells like Thanksgiving dinner, or the crisp Autumn air just feels so right.
2. Cooler Weather; No More Blistering Hot Kansas Heat!
Hot Summer days spent by the pool are nice, but returning to the scorching hot seat and seat belt in my car is enough to give me borderline first degree burns, (okay maybe that's a little exaggerated). Either way, I'm over the hot weather, and ready for that "just right" temperature to roll around.
3. Color Changing Of The Leaves
Red, yellow, orange, and brown paint the treetops and the ground as leaves begin to die and fall to the earth beneath. I think this is the most beautiful death ever. I can never get enough of the various colors of leaves, the sound they make as my feet crush their brittle bodies, and the crisp scent they have that wiggles through the air.4. Start Of College Football
Watching dudes exert their energy by tackling other dudes is always fun, right? Football is an interesting sport to watch, though I may not completely understand it. The main reason I love the start of college football season is the feeling I get when my family and friends are all surrounding the TV, screaming, cheering, bickering, and my personal favorite, eating.5. Sweaters, Flannels, Leggings, And Basically All Of Your Essential Comfy Clothes Are Acceptable To Wear Again
OVER-SIZED SWEATER TIME, YES. Sweaters are one of my all-time favorite pieces of clothing, and Fall means I can wear them, and many other comforting clothes, constantly.
6. An Excuse To Watch Classic Halloween Movies
Childhood memories come rushing back with the return of Hocus Pocus, Halloweentown, Casper, and many other classics during this time of the year. Tim Burton movies are my favorite, so this is the perfect time for me to over watch his movies without getting too judged.
7. More Hot Coffee and Tea
Yes, pumpkin spice for everyone! Pumpkin Spice has been deemed the "basic white girl" drink to have glued to your hand during the Fall months. Pumpkin spice is not my number one pick, but I think that any kind hot coffee or tea beverage is best suited for a cool day in Fall. I'll drink a hot cup of coffee any day of the year, but the coolness of Fall is a much more comforting time of consumption for me.
8. Fire Places And Bonfires Are In Full Swing
The coolness of the air invites people to socialize in the presence of a big, burning ball of flames. You can leave a bonfire, but the bonfire won't leave you. The clothes you wear to a bonfire will reek even after you've gone inside, but the scent is almost mandatory for the season.
9. HALLOWEEN
Costumes, candy, superstitions, all of the great things that Halloween brings are on their way!
10. There's Always Candy, Everywhere
It seems that people get in the spirit of holidays earlier and earlier every year, and with Halloween, that's okay with me! Teachers, family members, and co-workers soon will have bowls of Halloween themed candy dispersed everywhere, so save room for sweets.
11. Last, But Not Least, Pumpkin Pie!
I wasn't much of a fan of pumpkin pie until a few years ago, but now it has a spot reserved for it on my plate at Thanksgiving dinner.
Pumpkin spice and many other of the nice things about Fall are approaching soon! I hope you enjoy this season and everything that comes along with it as much as I do!
