I've never had a pumpkin spice latte

Summer is coming to an end with the last few weeks of September and as most people would do everything they can to head out to the beach or have that one last bbq on Labor Day Weekend, others (including myself) are excited that fall is right around the corner. Fall and winter are my favorite seasons. I love football season, the leaves changing color, cold weather, fires in the backyard, cute outfits, and of course Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. But since it's still technically summer we have one issue that rises as Labor Day Weekend approaches. Pumpkin spice.

That's right the pumpkin spice latte is back and what I'm about to say will blow y'alls minds. In my twenty three years of living I have never had a pumpkin spice latte or any pumpkin stuff in that matter. I know I know what about pumpkin pie? Nope never tried and never wanted to try it. While everyone is excited for their favorite drink to come back I'm just kind of sitting here wondering why I have never had one. Am I not the basic white girl who loves pumpkin spice lattes? Not hating at all but I love fall. I love decorating my house with pumpkins so why is it that I just haven't had one yet?

Every year this flavor invades everything. Literally everything. Food, candles, chapstick, drinks, etc. and it comes earlier and earlier. First it came at the end of September when it's actually fall now it's already here. So local activists have decided enough is enough. They want to stop premature pumpkin spice. Haha. But are they wrong to? I mean people are already getting ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Might as well go ahead and put your lights and trees up because the Christmas commercials will start soon.

Maybe I'm not a big pumpkin eater because I was a picky eater when I was little. There was always a pumpkin pie at Thanksgiving and I knew I helped make it so why didn't I want to eat it? Warm pie crust with an orangey brown filling just didn't look right to me. Every year another pumpkin pie, bread, muffins, or seeds and I didn't touch or eat any of it. Maybe I need to stop being picky and just try it. See if I really am missing out but that's the question. Am I really missing out?

What is it about this round orange fruit that everyone loves? For me it's carving them and showing my kids the fun side to it. The real question though is what is it about the pumpkin spice latte that everyone loves? Be honest am I really missing out? I love Starbucks, Dunkin' Donuts, and even McDonalds drinks so I'm willing to try this cup of heaven if it's worth it.

Maybe it's a sign that winter is coming and summer is leaving. I like summer but the heat kills me every time. Fall is better in my opinion and maybe I'll enjoy it more with a pumpkin spice latte in my hand. Like Marie Antoinette said "Let them eat cake." I'm saying "Let them have pumpkin spice."

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

There have been many lessons learned.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
