I will not deny the fact that I am such a typical white girl when fall rolls around. I love everything fall and have no shame in that. But when it comes to pumpkins, there is a love hate relationship there... I love pumpkin flavored anything. ANYTHING! Seriously. Some people think that is weird considering I hate actual pumpkins.
I love going to pumpkin patches and getting the perfect pumpkins. But then generally after one gets a pumpkin, they carve it. Not me. I hate the smell when you cut open a pumpkin. Most people think it smells good but to me it is just ew. The scent gags me, not even kidding. I hate the feeling of the inside of them (its just so gooey, YUCK!). Sure pumpkins are nice decoration for fall but it seems odd to me to just let one sit there. So after I go have tons of fun picking the perfect pumpkin, what the heck am I supposed to do with it?! I have yet to figure that out.
SO... I did some research of things to do with pumpkins with out carving them. Here is what I found:
1. Painting them
2. Covering them in glitter
3. Bedazzle them
4. Pumpkin bowling
Grab a pumpkin and something to act as pins and go at it. Watch that bright orange globe roll away!
5.Pumpkin mummies
For the next few we will actually have to cut into the big orange globes (can I have a face mask please?)
6. Make a pie
This Pumpkin Pie recipe by Paula Deen is SOOOOO good but it isn't made with a fresh pumpkin (which I am secretly 100% okay with)
Here is a recipe made with a fresh pumpkin, if that is your kind of thing.
7.Pumpkin bread
Here is a pretty simple recipe from Food Network Star, Alton Brown.
8. Fall pumpkin soup
There are tons of recipes for pumpkin soup but this one seems pretty simple and sounds really good.
Hopefully these ideas were helpful for you whether or not you like playing with pumpkins. So go out this fall season and have some pumpkin loving (or hating) fun.
