Fall is my favorite time of year. Leaves change colors to light up the landscape like a kaleidoscope. The temperature cools down. Scarves and boots become appropriate and stylish and layering cardigans or flannels is a great way to keep warm. Thanksgiving comes around bringing family and food. Most of all pumpkins are in season and abundant.
Call me a basic white girl all you want, but I love pumpkin everything.
Pumpkin spice latte? Yes, please.
Pumpkin pie? Hand it over.
An actual pumpkin?! That would be the best day ever.
It is one of the best flavors that is forgotten about until fall hits and it suddenly reappears. Then we all remember how much we love it and missed it.
Recipes for pumpkin chocolate muffins, pumpkin bread, pumpkin spice roles and more fill our news feeds and Pinterest boards. I’ve made it my goal to try many of the baked goods but to also see if I can incorporate pumpkin into my regular meals. Before fall ends I am determined to eat enough pumpkin foods that I will be satisfied for the rest of the seasons until Fall comes around again.
What is amazing is that it isn’t just good for eating. Imagine Halloween without pumpkins! There would be no jack-o-lanterns to adorn our doorsteps. There would be no delighting trick or treaters with creative and scary designs. Plus they’re an excuse to use those nice artsy skills you’re hiding.
I know many of you don’t get the pumpkin craze. Let me say you’re missing out on a fun and delicious time. If you haven’t tried the latte, please give it a shot, it might just rock your taste buds.
