Pugs, you either love them or hate them. I grew up with them and just have a penchant for the breed. After my pug Sammy passed in 2012, I was heartbroken. Then Buster came barreling into my life and it was truly just meant to be. He's a literal angel and can brighten anyone's day with his silly antics and his classic "pug head tilt".

About Buster:

  • Age: 8-years-old
  • Weight: 18 pounds of wrinkles
  • Where he was born: Unknown - he's a rescue
  • Favorite Food: Canned pumpkin
  • Current Location: Raleigh, North Carolina
  • Nicknames: Bushy, Squish, Angelito, Buster Lou, Bubushka, Busta Rhymes
  • Best Friend: His dog sister Gracie, cat sister Sophie, and anyone who will give him a back scratch
  • Favorite toy: A stuffed stingray that's bigger than his head

5 Random Facts About Buster:

1. Since he lives in a multilingual household, Buster understands Spanish and English commands and phrases.
2. He is epileptic and has had a few seizures. I sometimes wonder if this is why his previous owners gave him up.
3. Like a true pug, Buster is really laid back and goes with the flow. He doesn't mind riding in a kayak and has swam in a pool. Not a big fan of snow though.
4. He could probably sleep in any position. Sometimes he likes to sleep on his back with his legs sprawled open.
5. Buster is kind of tall for a pug. He used to get a lot of comments about his height, especially when he was younger.

3 Places He Loves To Go With His Human:

1. The nearby parks and lakes with walking trails.

2. The bed or couch to sleep.

3. The groomers for a nail trim and a face wrinkle cleaning.

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about.
