The ultimate Spring Breaks of all Spring Breaks is the annual trip to Puerto Vallarta in Mexico hosted by Xtreme Trips. Spring Break is always on our minds after finishing many months of hard work and exams. For the Greeks here at Penn State, we were lucky enough to make the white sand, swimming, and jet skiing a reality. We no longer had to dream of the hot sun beating on our pale Pennsylvania skin, but rather got the opportunity of a life time to forget about school and literally only concentrate on having fun. We embarked on our journey at 3 a.m. Saturday morning extremely eager to get on that chartered plane of ours.
The excitement and adrenaline was rushing through our veins with only Mexico on our minds. We landed in Puerto Vallarta at 10 a.m., sprinted through customs only to find our five Xtreme Trips buses waiting for us to take us to our resort. Cutting to the chase, we all got room keys and got settled into our rooms and literally darted to the pool bar. Luckily, I am fluent in Spanish so I was able to fully communicate with all of the employees at our resort. However, I had one friend Laurel, who started speaking broken English to the front desk. She had lost her key and needed a new one, not realizing the employees at the front desk speak perfect English. She blurted out “My name is LAAAURREELL its spelled L A U R E L” slowly and almost sounding like a perfect Indian accent. All of our stomachs were in excruciating pain from laughing so hard while watching our friend willingly humiliate herself.
Anyways, every single day that we were in Puerto Vallarta we would wake up extremely early and go straight to the beach. Occasionally I would go to the buffet for breakfast, but the food was the most disgusting thing you could imagine. They would serve us uncooked eggs, distorted looking sausages, and fruit that did not look like fruit. My guess is that they didn’t really care since the whole resort was simply filled with a bunch of college students who just came to have a good time. Although the food was terrible, honestly, we didn’t really care because of all the fun we were having.
We soaked up the sun, danced the day away to amazing Dj’s, and found time to take quick nap in between. Then it was the best part of the day, the part that everyone’s looking forward to, the nightlife. The nightlife in Puerto Vallarta was not something I had ever experienced before. It was all new to me, and I loved it. First, you start to get ready with all of your friends and blast some music to wake you up from the busy day. Once you were ready you would follow the music and find people in suites where they were having parties for anyone who wanted to join. Finally, it was time to go out, and personally my favorite parts were the taxi rides to the clubs. The taxi drivers would drive ridiculously fast blasting club music. This probably wasn’t safe at all, but so fun I must add.
Two of the six nights we were there we went to this club, La Santa. It was decorated to the nines, I mean insanely gorgeous. The walls were all black with glitter, roses hanging from the ceilings, and in the back room there was a huge beautiful pool. At first, I didn’t think people would jump into the pool after getting all dolled up for the club but everyone, I mean everyone went in. It was a free for all and anyone was welcome to jump right in. It was one of the best nights of my life to date. I thought to myself, I’m at a beautiful club in Mexico with all of my best friends, swimming in a pool while listening and laughing to great music. My life in that moment was perfect. I couldn’t have asked for a better night.
Overall, the trip was a week that I will always remember. I have so many amazing memories and hilarious stories that will be retold for the rest of my life. Puerto Vallarta was really the ultimate Spring Break experience and I thank my parents for allowing me to go. If you are someone that enjoys the party seen and wants to have a good time, I highly recommend going to Puerto Vallarta with Xtreme Trips. You won’t regret it.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Recently I completed my freshman year of college, and boy, what an experience. It was a completely new learning environment and I can't believe how much I learned. In an effort to save time, here are the ten biggest lessons I learned from my first year of college.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

For me, the scariest part of starting school was that I was alone, that I wouldn't be able to make any friends and that I would stick out. Despite being told time and time again that everyone had these same feelings, it didn't really click until the first day when I saw all the other freshman looking as uneasy and uncomfortable as me. Therefore, I cannot stress this enough, everyone is feeling as nervous as you.
