This is a quote from Hilary Clinton during her concession speech to President Barack Obama in 2008:

Although we were not able to shatter that highest and hardest glass ceiling this time thanks to you it has 18 million cracks in it said Hilary Clinton.

Women before Hilary Clinton have broken that glass ceiling, and many after her because she guided them to bring change to our world.

  1. Barbara Walters -- The first woman to coanchor a news network. She led the way for future journalists to succeed. We wouldn’t have Christine Amanpour, Diane Sawyer, Ann Curry, Robin Roberts, Gwen Ifill, or Hoda Kotb without her.
  2. Nancy Pelosi – First woman to be speaker of the house.
  3. Christine Todd Whitman – First woman to be governor of New Jersey.
  4. Nellie Tayloe Ross – First woman to be governor; she paved the way for Christine Todd Whitman, Sarah Palin, Nikki Haley, Susana Martinez, Kate Brown and Raimondo to be governor of their state.
  5. Jeanette Rankin -- First woman to be elected to Congress. She set the path for Debbie Wasserman Schultz , Gabby Giffords, Marica Fudge, Donna Edwards, Michelle Bachman Lynn Jenkins and Nancy Pelosi to run for congress.
  6. Hattie Caraway – First woman to be elected to the Senate. She led the way for Elizabeth Warren , Kristen Gillibrand, Susan Collins . Deb Fischer ,Tammy Baldwin to be senators.
  7. Sandra Day O’Connor -- First woman Supreme Court justice. Sandra guided the way for Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Sonia Sotomayor, and Elena to be able to serve on the supreme court.
  8. Sally Ride -- First woman to be sent into space.
  9. Amelia Earhart – First woman to fly solo over the Atlantic in 15 hours.
  10. Joan Rivers -- First woman to have her own late night show.
  11. Viola Davis -- First African-African woman actress to win outstanding lead actress in a drama series.
  12. Condoleezza Rice- first African American woman to be secretary of state. Condoleezza broke racial barriers.
  13. Madeline Albright – First woman to be secretary of state. Madeline Albright paved the way for Condoleezza Rice and Hilary Clinton to serve in this position.
  14. Sirimavo Bandaranaike – first woman prime minister. She led the way for Margaret Thatcher and Theresa May to be prime minister.
  15. Michelle Obama – first African-American first lady broke racial barriers. Michelle Obama was very influential with her speeches When they go low We go high and her whole white house garden to promote healthy eating and her let's move campaign which promotes exercise.
  16. Kathryn Bigelow - first woman to win Oscar for best director for Hurt Locker

It is okay to play the woman card. Women before us fought hard for future generations and no one can you tell you can’t do anything.
