An Open Letter to Christmas Shoppers,
Hi. I know I'm rather short and small, but I don't enjoy being shoved into this wall.
I mean yes, I understand that these $8.50 three-wick candles from Bath and Body Works are the bomb, but I have a shimmer spray stabbing me in my back.
Also, this is the third time I've been completely jostled. Can we be nice? Like I don't even want to know how many times someone has tried to cut me in the checkout line. Seriously, can we just be polite and civil?
Sincerely,
The girl who's foot you're still standing on while shimmer spray is still stabbing her in the back.
Christmas shopping is the worst. The lines, the attitudes, the mentality of "I've gotta have it;" in your quest to obtain gifts at all cost you're potentially being rude and inconsiderate to others. There's no need to tramp, steal from, push, or jostle other shoppers. In this season of extravagant giving, we've forgotten to give the most important gifts: kindness, humanity, and consideration for our fellow human beings.
So while yes, I'm sure your kids or your wife or husband or your BFF are going to love that gift, would they look at you differently if they knew how you behaved while you were trying to get that gift for them?
Be kind and thoughtful for your friends and family, but be kind and thoughtful to strangers, too.
