In theory, Thanksgiving break would be a fantastic time to catch up on all your school work for the semester. It is an entire week (or just 5 days if you aren’t fortunate enough to have the entire week) where there aren’t classes and you really don’t have anything to do. A good student would spend this time beginning to prepare finals, reading some chapters for your western civilization course, and possibly getting ahead on the upcoming lecture material. However, only freshman believe that they are going to have a break like this.
In reality, Thanksgiving break is a time for you to give your backpack a week-long break, because it has worked just oh so hard this semester. After you spend your freshman year break doing everything but school work, you really just bring your backpack home with you as a formality because we all know that it will never be touched during break. Instead, you spend that free time doing far more important things, like enjoying the expensive cable your parents have, catching up with friends you haven’t seen all semester, visiting family, and literally doing anything except homework. So, dismiss any idea you have of being productive over break because it’s never going to happen.
