Being a part of the Utica Community Schools was a ride from being a Stallion, to a Patriot, to a Titan. We were representing UCS through the whole way. It didn't matter whether you went to Stevenson, Henry Ford, Utica, or Eisenhower. We were all family in some ways, especially when times got rough. It is safe to say that we have all had many obstacles throughout all 12 years being a part of UCS.

Why I am proud to be a not only a UCS alumni, but a Titan...

1. We are and will forever be the mighty, mighty, Titans.

We are the Titans, we are the Titans, the mighty mighty Titans, the mighty mighty Titans, ooh ah oh yeah, ooh ah oh yeah, you wish you were a Titan! It will forever be remembered, and when you show up on that random Friday night to watch the Titans play after graduation you can't help but chant along.

2. Our school had a huge diversity of people.

We had so many different types of cultures to experience throughout Stevenson, and everyone was loud, proud, and eager to tell you all about it. If I were to make a list of all the different cultures Stevenson's had throughout its time I would be sitting here for honestly days, or weeks.

3. A day never passed by without someone having some type of school apparel/school spirit on.

A day never passed where you were walking down the hallways with nobody wearing a Stevenson High School, t-shirt, hoodie, crew neck, shorts, jackets, sweatpants, or even yoga pants. Along with our spirit days that followed, we made it exciting and everlasting; those were the weeks many of us looked forward to.

4. Our teachers may have had kids in rival high schools, but they were always supportive.

Stevenson may overrule UCS high schools, but let's be honest; we have no doubt the best teachers in the district, and the most exciting, happy to be here, types of personalities.

5. The Titan shoppe was the place to be.

A,B,C,D lunch... it was the place to be thanks to Mrs. G! Whether you were working during lunches, or just swinging in to grab some food there was always a line full of people with huge appetites and making sure they got the fresh baked cookies.

6. The football crowds were always huge, and full of excitement.

Hype as ever, we have had channel 955 show up, and it didn't matter how cold it was you always found a way to show some pride!

7. Mrs. McCloud's classroom/morning announcements.

Mrs. McCloud's class/classroom was the place to be and honestly did you really get the whole high school experience if she wasn't in the picture?

8. The love/hate crowded hallways.

I still ask myself how I made it to class on time with only six minutes in between classes... but we managed. This isn't even the half of it; the hallways never seem to be empty even during class time.

9. We graduated at the Palace of Auburn Hills.

Our graduation ceremony was beautiful, and more than expected! We can thank Mrs. Lucas for that, with the slideshow of pictures, the beautiful speeches, and looking out into a crowd with more than 5,000 people.

10. We can proudly say we graduated as a Stevenson Titan.

Not a day goes by that I hesitate when someone asks me where I graduated from, I can proudly call myself an SHS alum, and a part of all the craziness of the first day of school all the way to the last. We are one huge family, and I couldn't be more proud to see what Stevenson continues to do.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

There have been many lessons learned.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
