I Was Proud To Go To Rutgers University Even Before I Knew

In honor of Paulie, a Rutgers alum cast on "Big Brother" this season, I decided to do some research to see what other kind of television stars have also gone to this fabulous university. Rutgers is a big school, and there are bound to be some impressive stars that are Rutgers graduates. So, I did some research and found some pretty cool television stars that were once Rutgers students just like some of us.

1. Kristin Davis

Kristin Davis of the HBO show "Sex In The City" is in fact a Rutgers alum. She was in Mason Gross School of the Arts and has gone on to be a Broadway and television star, already with an Emmy win under her belt.

2. Katie Dippold

Kate Dippold is a writer and producer. After receiving her degree from Rutgers in Journalism, she became the writer and producer of "Parks and Recreation," as well as the movie "The Heat."

3. James Gandolfini

James Gandolfini, or as you may know him, Tony Soprano, has not only starred in "The Sopranos," but has also won three Emmys, three Screen Actors Guild Awards, and a Golden Globe. Gandolfini went to Park Ridge High School and graduated Rutgers with a communications degree.

4. Randal Pinkett

Randal won the fourth season of the television show "The Apprentice." He graduated from Rutgers, but also has four other academic degrees.

5. Sebastian Stan

Sebastian was in many recognizable television shows, including "Gossip Girl," "Kings," "Once Upon A Time," and more. He also acted in many movies, such as "Black Swan," "Hot Tub Time Machine," and "Captain America: The First Avenger." He lived in Rockland County, New York and graduated from Mason Gross.

6. Judy Gold

Judy is a stand up comedian who is the writer and producer of "The Rosie O'Donnell Show" and "All American Girl." She actually did her first comedy routine at Rutgers after a friend had dared her.

7. Mario Batali

Mario is a famous chef who has appeared on "Iron Chef America" as well as his own show on the Food Network "Molto Mario." Mario went to Rutgers and got a degree in Spanish Theater and Business Management. The best part was that he actually worked at Stuff Yer Face!

There are many more celebrities that have attended Rutgers, including professional sports stars, other television stars, artists, musicians, chefs, and more. There are also an extraordinary amount of Rutgers alum who have made amazing science and technology advancements, along with those who have done extremely well in government, business, education, religion, and literature. I feel proud to go to a university that has not only produced so many unique and talented individuals, but one that these individuals were also proud to attend.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
