Nothing's like coming home from work or school to a home cooked meal. Nothing's like a fresh cup of coffee every morning when I wake up. Nothing's like having a father whom you can discuss your hockey stresses with. Nothing's like having someone to call if your tire gets a piece of wood wedged in it in the middle of a weird Pennsylvania town. Nothing's like being a daddy's girl.
Being the only girl in the family, I guess you could have predicted that I am, indeed, a daddy's girl. No matter what I need or what I want, my dad is always there for me.
My dad is absolutely a hard working man. Everything he does and everything he works for is for his family. No matter the long hours, no matter the miles, he never lets me forget how much he loves me.
My dad inspires me to work hard for the things that I want in life. He reminds me that nothing ever comes easily in life, and that no matter how tough things get, there's always a brighter side to things.
No matter what I decide to do next in my life, my dad supports me and helps me think of how to start my future. He always is there for me when I need help figuring out college, or even if I get myself into a little bind.
I love my dad for all his quirks and faults, and even in bad situations, I know how to love him no matter what.
I see a lot of myself in my dad, and it's crazy how many similarities we have -- but, of course, I am the product of him and my wonderful mother.
My favorite times with my dad include talking about music (especially David Bowie), going to record stores, and watching hockey games together. I guess you could say that I do have a pretty cool dad, and I'm lucky that I can still do a lot of the things I love with him.
Not only is my dad an incredible father, but he is an even better husband. The way he interacts with my mom and the things he does for her are utterly amazing. He picks my mother up from work, brings her coffee throughout her long days at work and always cooks the most delicious meals for her. His main focus in life is her happiness, and just seeing that makes me even more happy. Their love for each other gives me hope that one day I will find my own true love.
One day, I hope I can find a man at least half as amazing as my father. Someone whom my kids could look up to, just as I look up to my own father.
I love you, dad. I promise you I'll root for the Islanders more and listen to some more Grateful Dead music for ya. But make sure you also root for the Kings and listen to some more Bowie for me.
