Welcome to Missouri, the show me state in America. The state that beholds the well-known arch located in St. Louis. The state that takes ownership of the 2019 Super Bowl winners, Kansas City Chiefs. The state that created cashew chicken. Welcome to Missouri, the state that takes a stand on their beliefs.
With the tragic passing of George Floyd, Missouri residents have recently began taking action along with all other states across the nation. Numerous towns in Missouri began protesting with signs saying "#JusticeForGeorge" and "Black Lives Matter". The impact from the protesting have truly brought residents together creating not only a stronger relationship but one community standing together. Yet not every city is for the BLM movement.
I was born and raised in a small town located in the state of Missouri. In my town the community members are either hardcore Republicans or hardcore Democrats. While it's common rule to respect others and their opinion, that can differ in my small town.
"Black Lives Matter", and "Trump. Make America Great Again" two different slogans that have been spread across the town. Young students are taking action in the BLM movement with the peaceful protesting. Yet other town residents let their confederate flags wave in the wind, while flipping a middle finger towards the teenagers. In my town the phrase "Black Lives Matter" can result in two ways. Way one, an agreement in the phrase. Way two, the argument that "All Lives Matter".
Either way the town can not relate together on the movement. While not every member of the community can agree on the protesting, the protesters were still provided support.
Members of the police station was near to make sure no bystander would harm the protesters and their signs. Community residents gave drinks and snacks for everyone involved in the movement. The crowd of protesters even began growing when drivers pulled their car over, and grabbed a sign. The journalists for the towns newspaper came by to take photos for their upcoming story. While my city is small, the story and this movement was big. Nothing will ever be to big for the residents in this town.
