It was a historic movement by faculty and students of Syracuse University and SUNY ESF. Together, hundreds gathered to march in the #SanctuaryCampus National Walkout. The group congregated to fight hate against all minority groups such as the LBGTQ community, the black community, the Latino community, Muslims, and others.
The protesters, with signs, marched from the Quad to University Place where they marched all the way towards Irving Avenue. The middle of the group started chanting "Black Lives Matter", a familiar saying American's have been hearing on a daily basis for two years now.
Protesters were eager to say they stood with the black community as there is constant discrimination in the modern world we live in. An African American female marched arm in arm with a White female. Together they told me "All lives matter. We are one."
