The Pros And Cons Of Being In An Internet Friend GroupChat

Over two years ago I was added to a group message with 14 other girls. Over the past two years, we have made many memories in the group and have had many arguments. Everyone has their good days and their bad days, but I wouldn't change the GM for anything even when some days the cons of being in a group chat outweigh the pros.

Cons:

1. Leave for 5 minutes and there 500 messages-

I swear I want to throw my phone on these days! I can set my phone down, do a simple task and come back to 500 or more messages. When this happens, you become totally lost in what's going on because there are way too many messages to go back and read them all. Plus, you wouldn't be able to anyways because the second you try, a new message comes flowing in.

2. Phones freezes-

Because there are so many messages in these bursts of conversation, my phone will freeze, and I have to just stare at it while it has a panic attack.

3. It gets very quiet-

When there are many messages, there must be times of silence. Some days the group chat will only have one or two texts, and that's it. I sometimes am tempted to text asking if they're all still kicking but then the group chat snap chat will go off and I get my relief.

4. The distance-

I hate the distance between my group chat friends and me. It's the biggest con of all because I can't just travel to them easily when I need them. Most of the girls in the group chat live over 9 hours away from me, and I hate being so far away.

Pros:

1. A loving family-

These girls are the best family I could have gained. I love them dearly and see them as my sisters (or children depending on who you ask).

2. The roasting-

This can be seen as a con but also a pro. In the GM, we take roasting each other lightheartedly and know we are all joking. This doesn't mean it hasn't caused a few arguments here and there because it definitely has, but we are all aware in the end, we love each other.

3. Meeting them-

One of the greatest parts of being in a group message with internet friends is that one day you all will meet. Many of the girls in my group chat have met, and I can't wait for the day that I travel to meet them in the future.

4. The support from all over the country-

When I have my bad and good days, I know they are always there for me. Sometimes it helps to have the support and opinion from those who care for you all over the world.

The group sometimes can be overwhelming, and I may have to take breaks from it sometimes, but I love being a part of it. Without these girls in my life, I don't know where I would be. The silly pictures, the rant sessions, and the love we have for each other make being part of the group chat worth it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
