Having A Small Car: Pros And Cons
Carlot Bot

As a first-time car owner, I did not have much say in the type of car I have received. I did not save money for months, nor was I really looking to buy a car. But, I needed a job, and therefore a mode of transportation. My cousins' had an old car they decided they did not need anymore and offered her to me. So I made my way to Virginia to take Sadie, my car I paid a dollar for, off their hands. She is my 1998 purple Chevy GeoTracker which my dear friend also has in green. As I have had this lovely car, I have encountered many good things and some negative thing about having a small vehicle.

Pros:

1. No parking spot is too small.

It's a struggle for many to find a good spot to fit their car in when they're out and about. Whether you're getting coffee, at the mall, or getting grub, many people will park crooked. This will provide a lack of wiggle room, but for us lucky few who have petite cars, the struggle is not so real.

2. " It's so cute!"

People have a habit of using cute synonymously with small or tiny. Therefore the word cute is generously used to describe my car. Maybe, if I was a dude it would not work in the same fashion, but I will take the compliment. My car is pretty cute!

3. It gets great gas mileage.

Though some small cars do not get good gas mileage, mine does very well. It may take a lot less gas at a time, but when I fill it up, it's most definitely cheaper than fueling an SUV or minivan. Usually, it makes me want to break out in dance, like this guy.

Cons:

1. It's a bit of a squeeze sometimes.

If you are tall like me, getting into a small car can be painful for long periods of time. Luckily, my car is not too cramped. Also, I usually am not cramming three or plus people in my car. But when you make those long trips, especially with a lot of luggage, there's a good chance you won't be able to see out of the back of your vehicle.

2. I'm 'that car'.

We have all experienced it before. You've finally gotten to your destination after traffic, and problematic drivers, and you're searching for a parking spot. You finally think you've found one after going down two different aisles. But as you approach the spot you see a tiny car is actually parked there. Usually, I am on the other side of this situation, but despite this, it happens to us all (sorry).

I have some awesome things about my little car and some problems which also arise. I love Sadie, and though, like any car, she has given me problems, I am extremely grateful for the places she has gotten me and things she has helped me to accomplish. Small or big, your first car will be held dear to you.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

Barn Pros

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
