Being a college student can be busy and stressful at times; we have so many tests to take, books to read, meetings to attend, and games to tailgate. For those of us in the Greek community, we have to add chapter meetings, study hours, philanthropy events, date parties, swaps, recruitment, and formals. Pretty soon all of it can pile up.
But for many of us, that is just the easy part. Having a job in college can be a rewarding experience, but like every choice in life, it comes with setbacks. Here are some of the costs and benefits of having a job in college:
PRO: Having a job gives you extra money.
CON: You have less time for other responsibilities and socializing.
PRO: You can gain great career experience.
CON: You could end up asking people if they would "like fries with that."
PRO: Having a job can give you a sense of independence and responsibility.
CON: There is another person telling you what to do: your boss.
Having a job during college can often be a blessing; however, there will be negative aspects to any job.
Some tips: Do not be lazy. Be thankful for the job you have, and if you do not need a job, be thankful for that, too!
