6 Pros And 4 Cons Of Being Short

Let's face it, I am short. I am 4'11" (and-a-half) which is important, OK. I have always been teased about being short, but I take pride in it! Short girls are so much more fun! A lot of people ask me, "What's it like being so small?" So I made a list of the pros and cons of being short.

Pros

1. Grabbing stuff off the floor.

If you drop something on the floor, it's not as much of a pain to reach down and get it since you are only 4 feet off the ground rather than 6.

2. Easy to find a guy.

Most girls like to date a guy whose taller than them, so by being short, that's a really rare problem to find.

3. Can fit into kids clothes at age 21.

Okay, kids clothes are sometimes just as cute as adult clothes and they are almost half the cost most of them. So yes, I do still wear kids clothes, and I'm proud and my wallet is happy.

4. Squeezing through crowds.

Going to a general admission concert? No problem. We find our way to becomes smaller and squeeze our way to the front of any crowd, and eventually to be right in front of the stage for any concert.

5. Wearing high heels and still being shorter than everyone.

Wearing high heels as an average height girl, might make you taller than your date, but as a short girl, we never have to worry about the problem. Stilettos it is.

6. Being huggable.

Let's face it, everyone loves hugging short people because it's like it's hugging a small child.

CONS

1. Long pants.

When you are short, one of your biggest problems is buying pants. You always have to take into consideration of how much it's going to cost for you to hem them to fit your tiny legs. I have yet to find a pair of pants that fit me length wise and I have had to get every pair of jeans I owned hemmed.

2. High things.

This is where tall people come in. Often times, even with a step ladder, I cannot reach a lot of things that are placed on tall shelves. Or you have to climb onto counter tops at home in order to reach the food on the top shelf. Tip: always have a tall friend for these situations. Tell them that next time they drop something on the floor, you got their back.

3. Not being seen, sometimes.

I always go back to thinking of the scene in the "Princess Diaries" movies when Mia gets sat on, because I honestly feel like a lot of the time I am not seen. People will bump into me and say "Oh, I didn't see you there." And then I just casually wait for a long lost grandmother to show up to tell me I am the princess of a foreign country.

4. Having to sit super close to the steering wheel.

Whenever a short person is driving, they have to sit super close to the steering wheel in order to reach the pedals, so if some one gets into my car, they have to get back out and re-adjust the seat in order to get back in, and if I get into someone else's car, it's like I'm sitting a mile away from the steering wheel.

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Recently I completed my freshman year of college, and boy, what an experience. It was a completely new learning environment and I can't believe how much I learned. In an effort to save time, here are the ten biggest lessons I learned from my first year of college.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

For me, the scariest part of starting school was that I was alone, that I wouldn't be able to make any friends and that I would stick out. Despite being told time and time again that everyone had these same feelings, it didn't really click until the first day when I saw all the other freshman looking as uneasy and uncomfortable as me. Therefore, I cannot stress this enough, everyone is feeling as nervous as you.
