Pros And Cons Of Living On Your Own

Being On Your Own.

Pros And Cons Of Living On Your Own
Bad Wolf

When I was growing up I didn't think I'd be living in my own house when I was still 18. So far it's been a very interesting time. Here are Pros and Cons of living on your own at 18 and still in college.

CON:

1. Having to take out your own trash.

I really do miss having my dad do it most of the time, now I know you have to go all around the house to grab ALL the trash then take it to the trashcan THEN move that to the street on a Saturday night.

2. Doing your own yard-work.

Lawnmowers, weed whackers, leaf blowers, most of them need gas. Gas means money. Not only is it hard-work but you have to spend money on making it look good. #BROKELIFE

3. BILLS!!

Everything cost money. The electricity, the water, trash services, and sewage they all are apart of the utility bill, then of course there's the rent, and luxuries, like internet, and cable. There goes all your money.

4. Buying Everything.

You need more toilet paper, detergent, light bulbs it's up to you to get it. Budgeting too, you can't get that soft toilet paper after all.

5. Night Routines.

Having to go around your house at night, checking all the doors and windows making sure everything is locked.

6. Dishes..

Nobody is going to wash those dishes for you, you have to do them yourself. Dang it.

7. Laundry.

You don't have any clean clothes? Totally your fault, mom/dad can't always do them for you.

8. Answering The Door.

You can't send your parents to answer the door, you can't run away and hide either. Which sucks. You have to do things on your own even if you're scared of the big bad wolf.

9. Figuring Out Dinner.

If you don't make something, you're gonna starve.

10. Insects!

YOU HAVE TO KILL THEM YOURSELVES.

PRO:

1. Sense of independence.

Knowing that you're doing it yourself is the best feeling in the world, you're running your own household and pretty much doing everything is rewarding in itself.

2. House Guests.

Your friend wants to sleep over? It's your decision, your boyfriend or girlfriend wants to sleep over? Your parents aren't stopping you.

3. Do Dumb Stuff.

Eat brownies out of the pan, Blast music all night.

4. Set your own rules.

Conversations can be carefree, you can walk around with no pants, drink and eat whatever you want, sounds like the perfect life, right?

5. Decorating.

You can decorate however you want, your obsession can be on display.

6. Parties.

You can throw a party if you really want to, no parents.

7. Play Games in the house.

You totally can play with the ball inside your own house.

Okay so I know there's more cons then pros, but living on your own is amazing, you'll eventually have to do it on your own but you'll be doing it your way. Good Luck!

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
