Wasn't it just May? The summer seems to go by faster and faster every year. With it quickly coming to a close and college right around the corner (or already happening for some), this tends to be a very emotional and stressful time of year. Here are some pros and cons of saying goodbye to summer and going back to college.
1. Pros
There are definitely a lot of pros regarding going back to college. Of course living alone is a big one. No longer will you have your parents on your back about what you are doing or what needs to be done around the house. You have your freedom back!
Another pro is seeing friends that you haven't seen since you left in the spring. Unfortunately, not everyone from college lives close to your hometown, so it's exciting to catch back up with everyone.
With the fall semester practically here, learning, going to class, and getting back into extracurriculars can be seen as a pro if you are passionate about your major and/or clubs or sports you're involved in. Personally, I like the feeling of being productive and having a packed calendar.
Meeting new people and meeting people who have similar interests to yourself is always a plus. Along with being able to decorate and organize your room.
2. Cons
I think we can all agree that most schools do not have that best dining hall food. For the lucky few that live off campus and don't have to deal with this, we're all jealous. Yes, it is convenient not having to cook for yourself but dining hall food is usually not something to write home about.
The library will be your second home. Get ready to mentally prepare yourself for all of the homework, projects, presentations, and tests.
As nice as it to live away from home, we all miss home cooked meals and even our families (sometimes). For students that live too far to "just go home for the weekend," you know what I mean.
For the most part, you can no longer work 40 hour work weeks like you might have done throughout the summer, so spending money while at school may be a little cringe worthy for some.
Constantly seeing your high school friends and being able to avoid most of your responsibilities at the beach will no longer be a thing.
Summer and college both have their pros and cons but at the end of the day, there are reasons to be thankful for both.
